It wasn't a good weekend for summerville, that's for sure. down a few of our starters and other teams with a few extra players -- didn't make for pretty soccer for the 'wave. Fun while it lasted though. And dtpplayer....the 'wave started as a jv team and ended as a jv team...no varsity added.
Congrats to WA for making it to the final and to Wando for winning it.

Apparently the cream rose to the top. Wando wins with the players they used all season .

coach j, im pretty sure you're wrong about the defending champions. The defending champions from 2003 are the Wando Warriors, who beat Summerville in the championship game last year.

We lost our sweeper who moved up to varsity, our second leading goal scorer and our goalie who had couldnt play because of a schedule problem, and a key midfielder because of an undeserved red card against Fort. Even with all of our losses and with everyone else bringing down varsity player we still only missed a chance in the championship to a shoot out

"and with everyone else bringing down varsity player"

shut the hell up dude u did it too.

the goalie situation did have a big impact tho. who was the goal scorer and who was the midfielder that got a red? was the schedule conflict with varsity or just somethin else?

Wow, we didn't bring anyone down.
What makes you think we did?

Balderson and Blase. They couldn't make the final game because of prom so our coach said either they play the whole tournament with us or they dont play at all. They chose to go to prom.

Besides even if we had wanted to I don't think the varsity coach would have let us.

yeah summerville didnt play well this weekend, and yes it was mainly because of missing 4 of our top players, though we could have played better and tried to keep our minds off of it. our sweeper wasnt allowed to play because the varsity coach didnt want to risk him being injured, 2 players like tigers said didnt play the whole weekend because of their choice about prom, and our best midfielder was on the sidelines for the first 2 games because of a bullcrap red card for "cursing at an officcial" or something of that nature last wed. night; this left our bench a little low. and other teams bringing players down from varsity didnt help either. but thats not the whole reason; partly just a lack of heart and not having our heads in it. congrats to everyone on a good tournament.

I keep seeing the statement "teams bringing down varsity"...which teams did this? Pinewood played with mainly 7th and 8th graders, we had four 9th graders, of which one couldn't play a portion of the games on Saturday due to an ankle sprain that occurred on Friday night ...even our keeper was a 7th grader...I think they had an exemplary showing considering their age.

If YOU went out on that field and played your best, then you should be proud of whatever you did. Excuses are not necessary.
