Irmo - Ridge View boys game was played, and with Irmo up 2-0 with approximately 1 minute left in the 1st half, an Irmo official demanded the referees take the players off the field due to weather. By the time the teams were cleared off the field, the half would have been over. It did not seem like the lightning was very close at the time.

The game was never restarted, making it a washout that must be rescheduled, if possible.

Poor judgement on the official's part; the half should have been finished before the field was cleared. He wiped out an Irmo victory and 2 goals scored by a team that has been struggling with scoring.

Varsity game was also postponed.

irmo4now, I am not sure why you blame the officials, when as you stated, an Irmo official demanded the field be cleared. Also, when does an Irmo win and 2 goals for a team struggling to score come BEFORE the safety of the players. I guess someones stats must have lost a couple of goals, huh.... If one of the players had been struck by lightning, you would have been on here complaining about it not being fast enough...some people are never happy.

The teams would have been off the field quicker if the half had been played out instead of discussing the weather with the ref. The weather was not much worse when the game was called than 5 minutes before that. The Irmo official should have been more aware of the clock. The refs were going to play out the half, then call it.
