Know this is late in coming...but congrats to all teams that participated in the final round last weekend. Of course...I am particularly proud of the U14 OSSOC Hurricanes...an unlikely assortment of 13 players, based out of Myrtle Beach, but you can truly say this is a Coastal District team. Four players from the Grand Strand(1 Myrtle Beach, 2 Socastee and 1 Pawleys Island), 3 McClellanville players(actually 1 McClellanville and 2 Awendaw), 4 Mt. Pleasant players and 2 Summerville players. Talk about a group that is serious about soccer!! Congrats to Coach Alair Almeida for bringing(and holding) this group together, to DOC Ross Morgan for his insight and coaching guidance and to Paul Benik for always believing in and literally supporting this team. Kudos to the parents for going "beyond the call" to find a way to train together(and apart) and especially to the young men who committed to this team and followed thru in spite of the hardships...Defeating GFC and St Giles(in one weekend) was worth everything!!! Best of luck at regionals!!
