I hear rumblings of a merger in the Lowcountry.
Can anybody who knows details share them?

Are you talking about the newly formed Charleston United (merger of Carolina Girls and Charlestowne SC)?

I think that may have been a fly over by some F17's out of the Marine Air Base at Beaufort. When have club mergers ever made noise in the lowcountry? Do you have any salacious gossip?

If you aren't aware of one then it must not have happened. Rumor Did not include MPSC.

the merge between carolina girls and charlestowne soccer is striking me as unusual seeing as it was done to bring a combination of boys and girls teams under one club (among other things) yet their is only one boys team currently composed under the newly merged association. most of the boys have left for SSC, MPSC, and JIYSC because of the comfusion causd at the start of the merge

Nothing going on here at SSC...CGSA & Charlestowne is the only one I'm aware of....I understand the two clubs are only combining resources under the umbrella of "Charleston United" but still are separate entities at the club level.

I thought JI and CGSA and Charlestowne were all
merging.

I am given to understand that JI and CGSA/Charlestowne explored the possibility of a merger but club officials felt the timing and logistics weren't quite in order yet. This is a merger that would make a lot of sense for soccer west of the peninsula and I hope it comes to pass next year. The best players already auto select the best clubs and have for a number of years. Andy Grist can bring a lot to the development of improved classic soccer on JI, particularly on the girls' side of things where the previous JI administration showed little to no interest.
