Shearer,
Sun Bowl is a watered down tournament and has been that way for the past 5 years. Capital Cup is an after thought- it is a shadow of what it once was.I'm not even sure it exists any more. I know it is not at Thanksgiving anymore. I have never seen club linesman at a high level tournament- not one, nada, zero.

This is an odd tournament for sure. It allows unlimited guest players. So I guess you can take all the best players you can find. The competition level must be lacking if they are willing to let you bring unlimited guest players. But still, CESA is in one of the finals at Score. http://www.soccerscheduler.com/directors/scheduleclean.asp?eventid=97#flight1714

How is Nick Schuermann playing? Glad you guys were able to pick him up since he didn't have any HS obligations this weekend.

CESA "11" just won the final game of the tournament 3-1. Congratulations to a job well done. You have made SC proud.

Heh Mom,
How many guest players did they have? I am sure Eric Baffour (going to Furman) had a number of goals. That was a much better experience for him than playing with North Augusta High School this past weekend.

There were four guest players in total. One was left off of the previous posting--sorry for that--Eric Balfour, Brendan Kight, Nick Schuermann, and Chris Sankowski. I don't know how the scoring was distributed. Perhaps someone that was at the games will let us know.

Originally, 14 players were to make up the team for this past weekend, however, illness and other problems cropped up at the last minute which prevented three players from making the trip.

As for the level of the tournament, in my limited knowledge and experience in these things I would say it was about at the level of this year' Sun Bowl. In fact Hillsborough, which I believe won the Sun Bowl was defeated by CESA 1-0 in the semi's.What made this tournament difficult was having to play 7 games in 4 days with 0 subs. Extreme fatigue was probably the biggest obstacle faced by CESA rather than any particular opponent.

It sure looked like the CESA players were happy after the final match, regardless of the level of the tournament. So, I guess that makes it all worthwhile.I must admit I was a little surprised at the tone of some earlier posts in this thread. I can't quite figure where the aninmosity comes from!Oh well.

Eric did not score a single goal. From what my son says Kevin Ruck ( not a guest player) had an outstanding tournament and scored many of the goals.
I did not post any more of the scores on here due to all the negativity and animosity towards CESA fielding a team and playing in this tournament. I didn't want to read any more garbage. Thanks to those who did have something positive to say and to FutbolMom for posting the scores.
