What does everyone think some of the best rivalries are in the state for soccer this year. I know the rivalry between Lugoff-Elgin and Camden is always one of the best (like it is in every sport), especially this year now that we finally beat them. No matter how much better one team is than the other it is usually a close and hard fought game. Just wondering about some other good rivalies...

I feel that one of the most intense, competitive and interesting match-ups in the Coastal area is Myrtle Beach vs Socastee. I have seen most of their matches over the past few seasons. Each has been enjoyable. I am very impressed with both of their programs. They both produce very talented players. Even though MB has come out on top in the majority of their matches, I feel that the Socastee program is headed to a more dominate position in the future.

The Daniel - Seneca games are always good ones. For the past 5 years, rarely has the game been decided by more than one goal, often in OT or by kicks from the penalty mark. The Players know each other very well from playing club soccer together. The games are very hard fought but clean; the best kind of soccer.

it is a great rivalry, even in the past especially last yr where MB played socastee once in a preseason scrimmage, the game was so full of emotion it was like a state final going on.

The same applys for this yr. Even the scrimmage that took place at MB where socastee won and the reg. season game at Socastee where MB won were both very intense games. It's probably because most of the key players from both teams, grew up playing together on OSSOC [Smile]

All of these games sound like great games. All are really pretty good teams. Sounds like most of these games would be great to watch. I have seen Mrytle Beach and North Myrtle Beach play a litte in the Tourny at the beginning of the season at NMB. What I saw of it was a really good game. When does RNE and Spring Valley play again? And what about Spring Valley and Ridge View? How are those games? I know there has to be some rivary between those two team.

I think that Ben Lippen and Cardinal Newman have one of the best rivalries. The past two years, this year include they have split the regular season games. This year both games have been really intense.
Yesterday Cardinal Newman beat Ben Lippen on a goal in the last 4 minutes after being dominated for a majority of the second half when one of the player got ejected for two yellows.
Ben Lippen should and could have won the game but they game it up at the end.
This rivalry has heated up over the last couple of year.
Kind of like Ben Lippen and Chapin's rivalry in the mid to late 90's (96-98).

Dreher and B-C is always a good game. The Blue Devils used to dominate this rivalry, but B-C has come back strong (I think they've won 8 of the last 10) and Dreher hasn't beaten them since my son graduated in '99. Good luck tomorrow night to the Blue Devils!!!

well LR and Crestwood seem to have duked it out on this board....we beat them both times though. [Wink] I would say our developing rivalry is Richland Northeast though cause that was a close game....we were winning 1-0 after half, then off a controversial call they get a pk (handball in the box) 1-1, then in the last like 4 seconds of the game, RNE has a corner kick, kicks the ball, and another lousy handball in the box is called on LR, right before the whistle is blown, pk for the end of the game, RNE 2 - LR 1 [Frown]

Riverside-Eastside from the middle to late 90s.

Now I think Riverside-Greenville is developing into a premier rivalry.

Walhalla and Pendleton has got to be one of the best rivalries in SC. The game always gets physical and nerve racking until the end. Some classic games.

I agree with crossbar_4... Pendleton-Walhalla is a classic. I've only missed one or two of these games since the matchup began and it's always been a hard fought game by both teams. This years games going into overtime both times.

Dutch Fork-Irmo is always a good rivalry. It is a hard game but also a well played game. This is the best rivalry in the state, hands down.

I agree with the Christ Church and Greenville rivalry- I think that since some of them have played together in club that it's pretty exciting- definitely a worthwhile game to watch!

shs/dorman...there is a sincere dislike for both teams but still played with heart and not dirty...just TOUGH. both seem to always be at the top of the state in all sports, and its just quality play in anything. just very emotional games bringing everyone 2 the top of their game

dorman-spartenburg is an excellent rivalry.
nothing however comes close to Christ Church-Greenville. I have never seen as many fans at a high school game as i did at the last game between these two teams. it was a heated match that came down to penalty's. fans and students were yelling at each other and at every play the whole game. all the players on these two teams know each other from club. this is always a good game by two high quality teams.
