Chico, sorry i left you hangin' in the last post. what i meant to include was the mt. pleasant and bridge should be able to put some teams into the finals, as will cesa. but, i just don't see csc being represented at all - even with all of the quality coaching they have, they just don't have the talent. i also don't see cesa winning as much as they did last year.
lower, i am pretty - thank you.

Folks...CESA didn't win all of the challenge titles last year: MPSC won in U13G and CSC won in U13B. In terms of being "more competitive", last year most games in the state championship were close to very close; I'm not sure how it's going to get much more competitive.
My guess is that CESA won't win every state challenge cup title in the 2005-2006 season either -- expecting them to would be like expecting Tiger Woods to beat the field every time he plays.

Pretty Ricky (Suh): No problem (although I'm not smart enough to understand the "Chico (stick)" reference. As you and I roll down 95, I find that I don't know enough about CSC's upper age boys group to either disagree or agree -- that's why I was asking -- thanks for the response. CSC's U17G age group looks strong, they're leading challenge and almost won the MPSC tournament this weekend. And of course CSC won in U13B last year.

Re: Needing three slots for RIIIPL.
There are two different ways for Bridge to play in RIIIPL next year: be a finalist in the state challenge cup or finish in third-place but have gone to some platinum/premier-level tournaments and do great so that SC representitives have a great argument for including them. That's about it.
Almost no one in USYS takes the US Club national championships seriously, and they probably aren't going to start anytime soon [even if you agreed on the merit of the US Club championship, which many do not, politically it's not in the USYS's best interest to recognize it as having much value.] The best chance that SC has to have three teams in RIIIPL representing this group at this point is if DSC doesn't make it to the finals -- they have been impressive enough in RIIIPL now for going on two years such that I wouldn't think it would be hard for SC representitives to make the case to include them next year in RIIIPL.

Chico, The "stick" was referring to one of my favorite candies growing up. Not sure if it is spelled correctly, but it seemed to be an opportune time to throw that in there.
I think the league overall has been more competitive this year, and there are more teams at the top of the table than was the case last year - if I recall correctly. Almost doesn't really count chico - I can't believe someone of your intelligence actually used that result to try and support CSC's status. They have very little chance to make it to the finals in that age group. I think Bridge and CESA have that final in their sights. But, I have been wrong before - like when I picked the koalas to beat CESA a couple of weeks ago only to find out that their bark was more than their bite.

Pretty Ricky (Suh): Are you sure we aren't talking about two different things? I was noting that CSC's U17G (Girls) have a good shot at the finals. They lost 1-0 to last year's state finalist MPSC Premier U17G at the tournament this weekend and are leading the challenge league this year. If you disagree, who do you think will make it instead? Besides MPSC and CESA, it seems like NECSA might finish strong -- but I don't know who else will really contend.

This initial post was asking about the upcoming state cup, which will include U15 to 18.
CSC did win the 13's last year, but they will be playing in the spring, not December.

Same with Mt. Pleasant's U-14G, who will be the heavy favorites to repeat this spring.

A tough question but here it goes...
U15 girls - not enough games to make determination. Can't see anyone stepping up
U15 Boys -most certainly Bridge 90 gold. majority of players played up in R3PL before with Mt. PLeasant and Summerville. Forget the US club thingy they will challenge. Bridge red may be an outside shot
U16 Boys - LCSC United
U16 Girls - Mt Pleasant again
U17 Boys - CSC 88 will be handful
U17 girls -CSC 88 same thing
U18 Boys - CSC 87 and potentially NECSA Ambush
U18 Girls - Not enough games to make determination

Nino: I think that the U13's play in the fall and the spring. More seriously, I try to decrease reliance upon context on this message board because it leads to not just misunderstandings but propaganda. Thus, if someone asks who's playing in a tournament, I'll try to list not just the teams but the brackets as well. If someone talks about a state championship, I'll include in response whether it's challenge or classic. There is a qualitative difference between the term "national championship" or "region pool ODP player" depending upon whether one is discussing USYS or USCS. There are just too many people out there apparently confused as to specifically what they've achieved or hope to achieve. Thus, on the second page of a controversial thread, when people use terms like "...all of the titles...", I'm going to state as clearly as I can and as comprehensively as I can the facts from the broadest possible viewpoint.
