With a little help from Hotstat and Excel, here's the results for the fall 2005 season, by club. This includes boys and girls, U-13 through U-18, PMSL and SCSCL. It's sorted by winning percentage (decreasing)

What this all means is beyond me, but feel free to discuss it among yourselves.

Interesting that Lexington and Bridge are so close in winning percentage and with Lexington fielding more teams and not drawing on the "elite" concept.

Other interesting comparisons:

(Charleston) Mt. Pleasant SC, 48.4 and Summerville SC, 46.0
(Columbia) Columbia SC and Congaree Rapid SA tied at 42.7
(Rock Hill) Northside SC, 44.8 and Discoveries SC, 35.0

Seems like Northside and Discoveries would form a better union than the Charlotte club.

More observations when I have more time.

pretty you would be correct but you can also argue that they would be playing against comparable skill opponents and therefore still factor in.

However, number of teams competing would be a key as for example CESA will have two per age and thus more likelyhood to succed or fail.

Assuming you are talking state cup, it does not matter... the data only provides likely scenario

Unless I am wrong you essentially have a 33% chance of wining,33% chance of losing and 33%chance of tying at every game. All it shows is the history and does not predict the future.

lurker,

I like the analysis and appreciate the work. However, Chico may comment that you have fallen victim to the Mixing Apples & Oranges Fallacy.

I haven't mixed anything yet. I will be mixing a Gin & Tonic a little later...

I'll save my analysis of the data until after that.
