Does this game not make a difference for your NECSA family? I thought the top 8 teams compete for state cup. If so, would you all not be tied with CSC with a 4-6-1 record if you all beat Lexington on Tuesay?

From what I can tell, a win over Lexington WOULD put NECSA in a points tie with CSC, but the first tie-breaker is head-to-head....since NECSA lost to CSC in regular season, CSC would win that and stay in 8th place.

Question...is a home team not required to have "back-up" referees, in case the "scheduled" refs do not show up? I don't know this for sure, that's why I'm asking.

Where's the letter and associated "disgust" with the league for not having officials there?

It seems to me that you're focusing on the wrong thing. The league let you down and a coach at Lexington didn't accept having two NECSA fans who happen to be referees referee a game that means something to his team. Yet your "disgust" rests solely upon the coach acting in the best interest of his team. It doesn't make much sense to me.

I agree. While I can certainly understand the frustration felt by the NECSA parents (and players), the Lexington coach has a responsibility to HIS team, not the NECSA team. In any other situation, sure, go with the (NECSA) refs on-hand. But, the outcome of that particular game decided whether Lexington plays at home next weekend or travels to Greenville.

Of course, his decision yesterday does not guarantee a win on Tuesday, but if he were to have gone ahead and played the game and lost, do you not think his parents would have raked him over the coals for that? You are complaining about driving from one side of Columbia to the other, while he is looking at the difference between playing at home and driving an hour and a half.

While it certainly was not a popular decision with a number of people (mostly NECSA parents), I can't necessarily say he made the wrong choice. That's why coaches get paid the big bucks - and, why I'm glad I don't have to make decisions like that.

Like Chico mentioned, maybe your anger is mis-directed.

Lads, since I started this thread, I'd like to end it by wishing you all a great summer. Congrats to all the boys for a great year. Congrats to CESA Premier for winning and TC for being a finalist, and Bridge Red and LSC for making it to the semi's. We've had some spirited discussion this season - so let's do it again in the fall.
Cheers (Now Cole Fusion - I wanted a name that would cut glass)
