Adidas Academy Cup

Interesting...three clubs from three states working together to host an academy championship.

This is a great idea and needs to be done. Academy club teams should play against Academy club teams. It's not fair when a traditional club team comes up against an academy club team in a tournament. Academy teams do not maintain "roster integrity" all season long and therefore could be perceived, rightly or wrongly, as having a competitive advantage.

I witnessed this first hand with the Atlanta Silverbacks U-11 girls in a tournament in Atlanta last spring.

The price sure is impressive, almost half the price of the CSC St. Patrick's Day Tournament.

The more I think about it; this could have a negative impact on other tournaments. We'd better find a bylaw and stop it before it gets out of hand.

I sent a note to CESA asking about the Adidas teams only restriction; I got a note back that this means in order to participate, clubs/teams have to be sponsored by Adidas or wear Adidas uniforms.
