I don't know if anyone else looked at "The State" paper this morning but I did. If you were lucky enough to miss this I will ruin your day by recreating it.

It is basically a comparison between Soccer and Golf as to which sport is most boring. I'll just put the soccer side.
Faceoff: The Battle of Dullsville
Category: Soccer
Scoring: One shot on goal every 25 minutes: I Love This Game!
Distractions:Easily distracted from game by choral singing in the stands.
Toughness:Extra "injury" time added to clock in hopes that someone might actually score.
Wimps:Wussy players roll on the ground in fits of pain after a light tap on the upper thigh.
Advice:What the sport really needs: land mines.
Suspense:Gee, how will ESPN work commercials into a sport with no timeouts?
TV:Announcer shouts "Gooooooooooal" so you realize something happened.
Predictable: Multiply your sleep deprivation fun: Stay up till 5 a.m. to watch another 0-0 tie.
Yawning:You can't touch the ball with your hands--which leaves them free to stifle yawns.
Colors:Where else can you learn Senegal's colors are red, yellow, and green?
Drama:Pent up energy from watching adults run around in no direction causes fans to riot.
Inspiration:You never heard Ronald Reagan tell the boys to "win one for Ronaldo."
Attire:Soccer min in shorts! Who cares if their names are unpronouncable?!

I'm sad to say that we can't give all the credit for this wonderful column to "The State" because its actually from the Chicago Tribune (this is probably because no one at "The State" even knew that you can tie in soccer or that there was even a World Cup) (of course i'm exaggerating but you get my point).
Now whats really wrong here? Everyone already knows that there is basically no support for soccer in SC. But what is really wrong is that with the new found success of the U.S. team and the new hype about soccer, though it may not seem that important it is. And now that there is all this hype "The State" takes an article from the Tribune basically to fill up space and entertain all the rednecks out there that are to stupid to understand the game.

I'm not saying "Protest The State" or anything like that. I'm just remember that they (The State) don't care about soccer. Moreover they don't even care about South Carolina. "The State" is owned by the printers of the newspaper in Charlotte (I think its "The Observer") so just remember "The State" just wants to sell papers not provide unbiased or unselfish news.

Maybe its just me but this article really ****ed me off and I felt I needed to know i'm not alone so if anyone else has some thoughts on this or information that I don't know about that would/could change my opinion i'd love to hear it.

Haha...dude..what they said about golf doesn't really matter because most people that would read the golf part would just chuckle about it but when they read the soccer part it just fuels their ignorance of the game. You know? But anyways..i'll put the golf stuff up anyways.

Category: Golf
Scoring: He went with a 6 iron instead of a 7. You the man!
Distractions: Easily distracted from game by beauty of lawn care.
Toughness: Listening to grown men whisper excitedly about someone's "ball-striking."
Wimps: Wussy players can't even carry their own bags.
Advice: What the sport really needs: quicksand traps.
Suspense: Gee, what sponsor's name will be on Phil Mickelson's hat?
TV: Even witha 42-inch TV screen, you need a magnifiying glass to see golf ball in air.
Predictable: Oh, the nail-biting suspense: Tiger Woods wins for the umpteenth time.
Yawning: You use a golf cart--which is a good place to catch a catnap.
Colors: Will Tiger go with the muted red or bright red shirt on the final day? Yawn.
Drama: Will he use a 6 or a 7 iron? The drama is thick.
Inspiration: Or "Win one for Tiger" for that matter.
Attire: There's no chance these guys will take off their shirts after the winning shot.

Two things are obvious here...

1. The guy went easy on golf because he probably plays it in his spare time.

2. He has no clue what the hell hes talking about and "The Tribune" and "The State" are just filling up space and trying to make the people out there that don't get soccer feel better about it.

Its like making fun of the smart kid because you can't memorize the quadratic formula.

L-E Dude, the "American way" again is it??

Its funny, two of the worlds most popular games and they try to take the ****. You are better off not caring about it, I don't think that FIFA or the PGA care too much about these articles, the last two times I was in the states things like that really got to me, but when I see American footballers hiding under all their padding and talking big talk to each other I just have a laugh to myself, you should to, every other country in the world is laughing too - America is just too ignorant to realise it. I could go deep, REALLY DEEP into this, I've done it way too many times with way too many Americans to bother again - I just can't wait to get there and help out some HS kids who want to play "THE WORLDS MOST POPULAR SPORT". Don't worry about some hack trying to make his few dollars!!

Ok regardless of what "The State" or MR.Foley says, let them talk and talk and talk, becuase the fact of the matter is soccer is growing in american and soon baby we will dominate that just like any other sport we play. I believe by the showings at the world cup would back me up when i say we as a whole our getting better and soon enough the day will come when we hoist that world cup trophy over our heads and then what can the rest of the world (specifically unimusing irishmen) say.
