Former Brookland-Cayce star Troy Lesesne (Class of 2001) scored his second career goal -- both game-winners -- last night as the College of Charleston blanked Wofford in a Southern Conference match at Mt. Pleasant.

Morris, Lesesne Named CofC Athletes of the Week

November 13, 2002

The College of Charleston announced Wednesday that women's soccer player Carolyn Morris and men's soccer player Troy Lesesne have earned Student Athletes of the Week honors for their accomplishments last week.

Morris, a freshman, led the Cougars to the championship game of the Southern Conference Tournament with a pair of game-winning goals.

Morris' goal at the 29:11 mark lifted Charleston to a 1-0 first round upset of Georgia Southern on Friday.

Morris' goal at the 104:10 mark on Saturday gave Charleston a 2-1 double overtime win over Wofford. Morris, along with teammates Sydney Strong and Jamie Stewart, were named to the All-Tournament team.

The Cougars, who had never won a SoCon Tournament match (0-4), finished the season with a 9-9-3 record.

Lesesne, a sophomore, scored the Cougars' only goal in a 1-0 win over Wofford at Patriots Point Field.

The Cougars take on UNC Greensboro at Bishop England HS on Friday (4:30) in the 2002 Gift of Life/Southern Conference Men's Soccer Championships.

The competition begins Thursday and concludes with a 1:00 championship game on Sunday at Mt. Pleasant's Patriot's Point Soccer Complex.
