Arsenal is five points clear entering a New Year!!!

The Gunners own a five-point lead over second place holders Chelsea and Manchester United as AFC has tallied a 13-4-4 record and 43 points through 21 matches of the 38 match Barclaycard Premiership season. The Blues at 10-3-8 and Red Devils at 11-5-5 each have 38 points from 21 matches.

Arsenal will play host to Chelsea on Wednesday in a London Derby at Highbury.

Arsenal have done well this year, but last Sunday's match was absolutely disgusting...

el hombre ... I agree that the Liverpool/Arsenal match was a bit ugly, but that happens when the Merseysiders decide to "pack it in" and play for the draw in the first half ... The Gunners had nine corner kicks in the first half and completely owned possession something like 65%-35%, so it was much more entertaining in the second stanza when Houllier's side decided to open it up ... However, I don't blame LFC -- they needed at least a point from the match and received it justifiably so on the PK that Milan Baros got when Sol Campbell clipped him from behind ... Francis Jeffers' PK was a bit dubious, but at least the referee called it immediately, unlike Baros' PK in which the linesman had to settle the dispute -- rarely seen in the EPL is a linesman giving the away squad a penalty kick! ... Still, AFC is five points clear entering the New Year with a TOUGH London Derby vs. Chelsea on Wednesday.

I think that Newcastle is showing strong, and can come atop if their away game stature can improve. With Speed out for 6 weeks on a hernea operation, and Bellamy "supposedly" having a knee injury; I really don't know how they are going to do against Liverpool. Another thing, they are one(1) game behind everyone else, yet another showing how they can come atop. NUFC should be the champs this year.

Manchester United 2-1 Sunderland -- ManU rallies from 1-0 down on an early own goal to pull past Sunderland on goals by Beckham/Scholes in the final 10 minutes and stay on the leaders -- Arsenal!

Winters wanted Arsenal to win, its that simple...Baros got taken out by the last defender in the box, automatic penalty and red card, but Campell stayed on the pitch and hesitated to give the pk...replays from every angle showed it was legitimate...replays from every angle also showed Franny Jeffers made a dive Flipper would be proud of, and Riise got a phantom yellow for it...for God's sake even ALEX FERGUSON AND TONY ADAMS said it was a dive...Arsenal may have carried the play for much of the match, but if you cant score on an empty net and have to cheat for a goal, you dont deserve a point [Mad]

sorry bravesoccer04, but i dont see the magpies winning the league, as much as id like them to, seeing as we're pretty much out...you needed a deflected ball to beat us when we played one of our worst games of the season...best of luck with the rest of the season, hope Shearer beats out Henry and the falling donkey to the golden boot too...

Magpies are getting closer, if only they had a freaking defense, they would be awesome. Their goal difference sucks, which, if we had a good defense, our offense could give us a great advantage and we would be 3rd instead of 4th. Chelsea is sinking fast, I don't see them in there for much longer. Man. Utd. have a good chance. Its between us, Man. Utd., and Arsenal. El hombre, who do you support?
