Heinz Signs 25 For 2003

ROCK HILL, SC- The first recruiting class for women’s soccer at Winthrop University was announced by head coach Melissa Heinz, Monday afternoon.

Heinz has had a year to recruit for the 2003 inaugural season and has signed 25 players to form the first women’s soccer team at Winthrop.

“I believe with the talent we’ve brought in to begin this program, we have a good shot at exceeding any expectations some might have on a first year program,” said Heinz. “First-year programs are underestimated and with the type of hard working women I’ve brought in for the fall, we have the confidence we will turn heads and have high hopes of reaching great heights.”

Heinz feels the squad will have a good opportunity for a winning season with the hard work from the players and her assistant coaches, Christi Elias and Teddy Meyer.

The 25 players to form the 2003 squad are as follows; Alex Bouziane (Fr., Fwd., Bradenton, FL), Alison Radke (Fr., D, Salina, KS), Annie Johnson (Fr., Fwd., Charlottesville, VA), Erica Devine (So., F/D, Huntersville, NC), Corri Fennell (Fr., Fwd., Evans, GA), Whitney Sanders (Fr., Fwd., Bradenton, FL), Jennifer Hensley (Fr., MF, Cincinnati, OH), Priscilla Henriques (Fr., MF, Bradenton, FL), Beth McGeachie (Jr., GK, Rock Hill, SC), Nikki Huch (So., D, Mt.
