Basically here are the rules that follow:

1. The pre season games do not count.
2. Invitational games do not count so the Dorman / Irmo game is a non issue with regards to the playoffs.
3. You only count 14 so your lowest 2 points games are kicked out.
4. Points are awarded as follows
4.5 Beating a 4A team with a winning record.
4.0 Beating a 4A team with a losing record.

5. Both Dorman and Irmo become 14-0 under this system. Dorman’s losses to Irmo and Bishop England are not counted since they occurred in an invitational tourney. Irmo is of course undefeated at 14-0 with no losses this season.

REMEMBER INVITATIONAL TOURNEYS DO NOT COUNT IN PLAYOFF POINTS AND 2 GAMES ARE KICKED FOR A TOTAL OF 14 GAMES COUNTED

Dorman finished with 61 points
Irmo finished with 59 points

Dorman played 10 teams with a winning record
Irmo played 6 teams with a winning record

½ point difference between a winning record and a losing record thus Dorman gains a 2 point advantage and the top seed.

Amazingly the difference is Byrnes finished 9-7 and thus had a winning record and Spartanburg finished 8-7-1 and had a winnig record. IF they had lost one more game apiece then Dorman would have lost 2 points and Irmo would have been top seed by virtue of beating Dorman (rule f2a)

If the seeds hold, Irmo will have to come to the upstate.

Dorman’s schedule that will count towards the playoffs.

How does Spartanburg have a tie? I thought all teams had to go to penalty kicks in the regular season?

How can a team thats #1 in the NATION and #1 in the STATE, not get a #1 seed in the playoffs. Thats some $#*+ right there. This have to say something about the quality of the point system. Even though preseason doesnt count, you have to consider this..... Irmo beat Dorman 4-1 in preseason..

All I can say is now that Irmo has the #2 seed and would have to go to Dorman (that is if Dorman gets that far),instead of Irmo being the #1 seed, you can bet that does not bode well for Dorman. Not that Irmo really has anything more to prove, but I think they got just what they needed...some motivation. You can bet Dorman (or whoever) won't know what hit em after that game. This whole point system is a joke with Irmo not getting the #1 seed in the state. Good luck Irmo. I'll be there cheering you on to your next State Championship.

The point system is not a joke.....

It is the system in place and every coach knows that before the season and before the schedule is made. No one is arguing that Irmo is the current No. 1 team in the state, but under this point system which does not count pre season or in season tournaments, and which does take into consideration the caliber of of opponents, Dorman performed better by virtue of beating better teams.

Irmo will have there chance with a couple of home games and if they and Dorman prevail, Irmo will have there chance to play the Cavs for the right to go to state.

The system is not flawed in that every coach knows the rules and the 4A soccer committee has agreed on those rules for many seasons. If they want to change for next year then they can, but I do not know of a better system for such a variety and teams and locales.

If system is not flawed, consider this.
Team A 16-0
Team B 14-2 (both decisive losses to Team A)
Team B gets top seed due to (sic) strength-of-schedule.
Flaw????

irmodad, you're a complete idiot as are most parents from irmo. both dorman and irmo use 16 games and in those games dorman and irmo are both undefeated so how do you get the 14-2?? neither of dorman losses count in the overall record used for the playoffs so therefore both teams are undefeated in the games that are looked at. everyone knows irmo is the best team in the state right now but the only people they can complain to about not getting the number one seed is themselves and coach savitz for not playing a stronger out of reigon schedule. this is the same kinda trash irmo was talking and whinning about last year before and after they lost to dorman and my bet will be that irmo wont know what hit them for the second year in a row.

I am pretty sure that everyone knows there is a problem with the seeding system in SC. From what I have heard the points system is on the way out. It will soon be run like GA, and in my opinion that's a better way to run it. The points system punishes teams that are in easy regions like Irmo. I am sure the point can be made for other teams too throughout the state of SC. Why bash on Irmo fans though? Irmo has a right to be upset...because they are in an extremely weak region...they get punished for it. But then again I am from Irmo too, so I am sure people will make themselves feel better and will bash me too. Do all the bashing that you want. Everyone can talk the talk, but the game will be played on the field and the best team will prevail. Believe me, if Irmo has to play Dorman at dorman...I can gurantee that Irmo will be avenging its loss from last year, and will put an exclamation on it when they trounce Dorman. I don't care what anyone says, there is no 4A team that can hang with Irmo in SC. And I hope the final score between Irmo and Dorman is 10-0 Irmo. That would be the best way to show the point system is a bunch of crap.

Like I said...this point system probably did Irmo a favor. Now they have even more motivation to prove they are the team to beat. If Dorman gets far enough in the playoffs to host Irmo at Dorman, don't miss that game because the point will be proven. Like Soccerboy said, I would love to see Irmo run this up a little on Dorman just to prove their point and the problem with the point system. I also heard the point system is going away next year for 4A.
