Holland Tops U.S. 1-0 in International Friendly
AMSTERDAM (Wednesday, February 18, 2004) - Arjen Robben scored in the 57th minute after beating Frankie Hejduk on the left wing as the Holland topped the U.S. 1-0 in the Amsterdam ArenA this evening. The U.S. was playing bend but don't break defense for most of the match, and nearly equalized as DaMarcus Beasley, Bobby Convey and Josh Wolff began creating chances.
Ruud van Nistelrooy put the ball in the back of the net twice - but on the first occassion he was offide and on the second he clearly handled the ball into the net. Eddie Pope, who fell ill just before the team left the hotel today, Jonny Walker, Conor Casey and John O'Brien were the scratches from today's match. O'Brien tweaked his right hamstring in trainging with Ajax on Friday.
