The Charleston Battery sent Atlanta and their fans home crying with a hard fought 2-1 victory and take a one goal lead in the Southern Derby Cup, 2 leg competition.

The Battery were a man down for almost 60 minutes, but still managed to out play and out class our rivals from the south. A quality match for all involved.

Some of you may be surprised to hear that Hollingsworth (aka Hollywood) is turning into a very good marking back, a defininte change in position from his CofC days.

Also, former CofC netminder Keith Wiggans is also now with the Battery and with current #2 Michael Behonick on crutches, Wiggans is already on the bench as game day backup.

That doesn't surprise me about Hollywood -- he is an absolute warrior on the field.

That's terrific news about Keith Wiggins. He had a heck of a year at CofC last year and just didn't pass the "eye test" as a GK (height). I'm glad to see the Battery pick him up, because he has all the intangibles to succeed.

What did Behonick do to land him on crutches?

Hollywood is a real hard worker and he is a pretty cool guy to boot! Keith is real good keeper too but he got a lot of crap for wearing a bright yellow goalie jersey during his earlier college years which just made him look like a giant banna but other than that he is pretty cool too

You guys should head out to Blackbaud and support the Battery and your buddies.
