sweet pick up for Man U. hopefully he will play as well as he has been playing in the past few years, but in my mind Tim Howard is still better.

Howard better than van der Saar? surely you are kidding. van der saar has only won the champions league with ajax, the uefa cup, and several dutch league titles. he is one of the most experienced and proven goalkeepers in the game right now. the only thing that howard has proven is that he can conquer the strikers of the great MLS.

Manchester United solved their GKing problem but signing Edwin van der sar.

I think Tim Howard's struggles really show the greatness of Kasey Keller and (ugh) Brad Friedel. While I am not a Friedel fan, the fact that he has been a solid fixture at Blackburn and Keller was the first American GK when he went ot Milwall and has sustained himself in Europe really show their abilities.

I know Blackburn and the clubs Keller have played for are not Man U but the two of them were under considerably more pressure than Howard b/c they were expected to start. Howard was brought along.

We GKs have a bit of an advantage b/c a keeper does not hit his peak until his late 20s or early 30s-- the age most field players are fizzling out. I think Howard needs to go back to MLS or to a lower Premiership team, refine his craft even more and then make a triumphant return to Man. U. after the van der sar years.

Keller has really come out strong as of late. I'd say he's at his prime right now...even with that bald spot.

I agree. Heck Sahy Given is out of his league in my opinion. Older Gks are the ideda in EUROPE!!! Let "timmy" progress at southhampton or Charlton ATH if needs be.....you might see Howard at Pompy on loan mark my word.

Tim is obviously not the short term answer for United. I agree with previous post that he should move in some direction to get his confidence back and the confidence of those who may play around him. I mean heck, he is not even on the US radar. He is so far behind Kasey that it may be years before he is the US's choice. Having said that, it is unfair to compare Tim with Kasey. Kasey is a true world class keeper as is Van Der Saar. Tim was a great MLS keeper! World's apart.....in every aspect.
