Carolina is 0-4, that is really sad...the football team has more wins than the soccer team.

I THOUGH FURMAN WOULD START BETTER THAN THIS. HOPEFULLY THEY ARE ABLE TO START PICKING IT UP!

For the Southside Christian player that keeps posting on here. Furman's not that good. In fact, the Paladins have been poor for two years. Hope they get back on track, but it won't be this year.

Newberry lost away 1-2 in OT to the #1 D2 team in the nation (Tusculum). Not a bad showing.

October 4, 2005
Furman Clips College of Charleston, Earns First SoCon Victory 2-1
Charleston, S.C. -- Furman netted two first half goals and limited Charleston to just seven shots on its wa to a 2-1 Southern Conference victory over the Cougars Tuesday evening at Patriots Point Field in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.
Paladin freshman Brian Martin, who earned SoCon Player-of-the-Week honors last week, received a Shea Salinas corner kick and beat Cougar goalkeeper Hunter Gilstrap at the 33:34 mark to break a 1-1 tie. The goal, Martin’s fourth of the year, would turn out to be the eventual game-winner.
Salinas gave Furman the early 1-0 lead in the 15th minute. Josh Villalobos served a corner kick into the box that Mark Futrell passed on to Salinas. The forward sailed a shot into the upper corner out of he reach of Gilstrap to open the scoring.
The Cougars sprung Jeremy Gold on a breakaway at 18:52 and the Charleston forward beat keeper Bryan Amos to the left to knot the match at 1-1 before Martin’s match-winner 15 minutes later.
The Paladins held a 12-7 edge in shots and 7-5 adavantage in corner kicks. Gilstrap stopped six shots for the Cougars while Amos was forced to make just one save in 90 minutes of work.
The win improves Furman to 3-4-4 overall and 1-1-0 in Southern Conference play. The College of Charleston falls to 5-4-2 overall and 1-1-0 in league play.
Furman, winners of three of its last four matches, returns home to Eugene Stone III Soccer Stadium to host SoCon rival Georgia Southern Friday at 7 p.m.

I think Lander should end up #1 for Division II. We (Lander U. Bearcats) are the #1 team in the entire southeastern region of division II soccer. We play Lynn in Boca Raton, FL this saturday for the rights to a trip to the final four of division II national championships. This has been a special season for us at lander. Alot of injuries even before the season began, and several starters were done within a month into the season. Now, we have three starters out and we're still dancing in the big dance...its kinda a cinderella story this year because of the ppl we are missing.
