Real Madrid were crushed last evening by a score of 6-1 by Real Zaragoza in the Spanish Cup. OUCH!! Apparently their worst defeat since 1999.

The Whites are playing well, winning, and, as tonight, scoring a lot of goals..... In the decisive stretch of the League, and it's good news from the Bernabéu: This Madrid doesn't stop improving...
6-1 against a zaragoza team in 9th place in la liga? why can't madrid play consistently with all their stars fenomeno

p.s. fenomeno....not a diss, just a question for a madrid fan

Madrid is 3rd in the table, but one would think they were facing relegation with all the talks. All the mega signings add some pressure. Perhaps they'll look to their youth ranks more in the future than bringing aboard the hottest player of the moment. They're like Brasil, minus the results. Overloaded in talent in particular areas while others desperately need upgrading. Sigh.

Look all teams have their off days, excellent teams have gone down in defeat sooner or later. I guarantee one of these days chelsea will be obliterated either in the CL or PL, and Real Madrid got their beating out of the way, they will bounce back from this loss and continue to play soccer the best way they can. I wanted to find stats on this game but was unable to, if any of you know a website with the stats of this game please post it on here thanks

that was pretty bad, one team's gotta lose though lol

I saw the game, all of it.

I'm a "hardcore" Madrid fan. Yea, sometimes you lose. And Zaragoza beat the hell out of my team!

Madrid though it was an easy game. Cicinho and Woodgate did not start, they have been starting lately, they were gettin some rest... BIG COACHING MISTAKE. Never understimate your rival, is huge in sports!

They started Helguera, he sucks. Salgado is getting old and he is returning from an injury. and Ramos is still young. Zidane on the bench... Raul injured.

Robinho is not playing good futbol. He needs a couple of more years. The two Milito brothers did what they were supposed to. Diego Milito is an interesting striker, he scored 4 goals, all of them good goals, he may be called to play for Argentinas national team after that performance.

Gabriel Milito (he was supposed to play for Madrid but an injury got him into Zaragoza) did not give Ronaldo a chance. Anytime Ronaldo had the ball, he took Ronaldo out, the same with Robinho.

Basically. Madrid defense was horrible. Zaragaza's strikers were on fire. Milito scored 4 goals. Everton (another brazilian) scored 2, one of them was a "golazo," a volley from outside the 18.

Zaragoza has one of the best defense on the league. Gabriel Milito is a "Madrid" type of defender, he was also trying to break Ronaldos legs!!! Ronaldo does not want to get hurt, he is trying to get ready for the WC, and he just recovered from a serious injury.

Really good game. Madrid defense was a disaster, Gravensen and Guti suck like always. Overall Zaragaza wanted the game real bad.

End of the story. Zaragoza made history... the whole world is talking about that 6-1. There is still a game left at Madrid. Madrid either tries to come back and clean up the damage. Or they save everything for the Champions League.

We'll see if Arsenal can score another 6 goals on Casillas... Cicinho and Woodgate will be back, should be different.

Madrid will be ready for the big one... its called Champion League. They are aware now that Gravensen and Helguera don't belong to the "Whites."

Haha lata playas.

Knock on wood...so far today hasn't been Chelsea's finest. Down 2-0 at half to Boro.

[Big Grin] thanx lol, anytime [Razz]

Chelsea loses to Middlesborough 3-0, who would expect them to pull that off lol
Liverpool's offense is getting better by the day.
The finishing is getting worse.
Manchester United's other players are stepping up to score goals. Where is Rooney?
Newcastle is having ups and downs. Will Owen recover in time?
Sunderland is playing to lose.
Arsenal CL showdown coming soon, who will be the victor?
Ronaldinho vs Lampard
Steven Gerrard vs Benfica
Arjen Robben vs Jose Reina. Do you really think Arjen's acting was necessary when Chelsea had the game locked down? His comments about Liverpool should not be worried about him but their current form were not exactly the best way to go. He will pay for that and those words will be shoved into his own mouth lol

oh yes dude

Wigan surprised me a whole lot this year, although their fame was shortlived with i think 7 straight losses or somethign like that, but they will definitely bounce back, hoping for them to place 7th or so in the premiership

Henry is not leaving, he is too dedicated to Arsenal and his form is not top ranked but its definitely improving. He's created an image for himself and for his fans, a move now would just demolish his career in my opinion.

hmm juicy lol

Arsenal and Liverpool - wow, i looked at the stats on ESPN Soccernet and for some reason I think they were incorrect even though I personally did not watch the game

It had

Liverpool with like 43 shots and 9 on target, and Arsenal with 21 shots or something and 2 on target.

If that is true i should watch that game lol !!!!!

Liverpool is pulling wins out of their (donkeys) right now. With all these youth signings, Liverpool will be a hard contender in the next 5 years, and that's a guarantee !!!!!!!

Real are playing very poorly this season simply because they have no continuity in the managers chair, I don't know how many they have gotten through in the last few seasons. As a result of this they blow hot and cold in their games - the two games vs Zaragoza were a perfect microcosm of their past two seasons. Real, in my opinion could go to Arsenal (themselves struggling for form) and stuff them just as easily as they could get mauled! It'll be a good tie with two teams who like to play flowing attacking football.

Henry, I think, will leave Arsenal during the summer - well he will if he's as ambitious as he says he is. The only things keeping him at the Arse are his loyalty to Arsene Wenger (who showed faith in him and turned him into the player he is now), the French contingent at Arsenal and his captaincy. There's no doubt he loves the club, but as the man says himself, he has to be sure that the clubs sporting ambitions match his own before he signs a new contract (his current one expires in '07 - when he can leave for nothing, dont think the Arsenal moneymen aren't thinking about that with Ashburton Grove to pay for). He's got maybe 3 years left at his current level and unlike the other "greatest ever" players around at the moment (Zidane, Ronaldinho, Roy Keane, Ronaldo) Henry has never produced the goods at the highest (World Cup/Champions League) level so perhaps it is the natural course of things for him to move on and make the final progression in his career.

PS - the Arsenal -v- Liverpool game was painful. A terrible terrible game. Henry spent most of the match pouting, pointing and shaking his head - an inspirational captain!!

I personally believe that Henry will have talks with Wenger about the singings that he is planning to make. If Wenger manages to entice some top players on making a move to Arsenal then I think that Henry will stay at the Gunners. Pires is good, I've seen Bergkamp sit some games and it worries me why they do that, a top class player deserves to start every game.

I mean they're still trying to adjust by losing Viera ( have a question, is there a Vieri and a Viera, i get confused sometimes cuz i see both names appear )

But yeah Arsenal isn't doing too bad right now, they just have to take a deep breath and play some good soccer, win the games they know they must, Liverpool is a hard contender and it was unfortunate for them to lose that game when they should have come away with a point. And that is exactly what i'm saying, they need to learn to put away games instead of thinking its over with 5 minutes left.

I disagree about Real. Solidifying the managerial position does not equate to trophy success. Just ask Rooney...

Nicely said Le Debile, fancy language [Razz] . Thanks also to AirMaddox and LeGrazie for clearing that up, appreciate it.

Real is just getting their mind set on acquiring more and more talent, instead of building on the current talent they have. That is the only problem I personally see with them.
They need to start building on the stars they have now in order for them to perform to their full capabilities.

Rooney is very happy at Manchester United, he stated that he had no regrets in the move even though they fell short to Real Madrid as the richest Club team in the world.

Manchester United lost to Liverpool today in the struggle. For most part Liverpool controlled the game with more shots, shots on target, and a 60% to 40% possession control. Liverpool failing to put away opportunities saw their only goal come from PETER CROUCH (OMG I WAS SHOCKED LOL ) in the 19th minute. Way to stick it to Neville who had nothing to celebrate for today.

William, with reference to Wayne Rooney and Manchester United, please tell me you are not implying that Manchester United are not a successful club? They are in a transitional period at the moment - just as Arsenal are - where they are "between teams", the Keanes, Scholes, Giggs etc are all in decline and the new players - Ronaldo, Fletcher, O'Shea, Smith etc aren't quite performing at the level they should be - probably due to an ability deficiency more than anything else! But, be these facts as they may, Rooney is still playing under the most successful modern manager in the British game - tell me he's not learning anything day-in day-out on the training field and in the dressing room from that man and I'll tell you you're a fool!

Consider his other options in Britain - Liverpool (Champions League "Winners" 2005), he would rather kill himself than play for the wrong side of the Mersey.
Everton - ehh....their season hasn't exactly been sparkling.
Chelski - I'm not sure he'd fit their long-ball tactics, and if they wanted him, he'd be there!
Arsenal - he doesn't speak French and Thierry doesn't like to share his spotlight with anyone who doesn't...just ask Jose Reyes!

well the reason he didn't play with Liverpool was because of $$$, that's the business in the premier, houllier or rafa would not go for broke on signing rooney cuz of inexperience and his temper. Liverpool had a chance for Owen but Newcastle offered him the $$$ and that is y he didn't return to Anfield, hence him being booed when the played each other.
