For you youngins, his dad, Kyle Rote Sr was a New York Giant Pro Football Star of the Pat Sommerall, Frank Gifford era. Sr. was also a spokesman for Timex and did numerous commercials with the famous "Keeps on Tickin'" line.
I thought Jr. played on the Cosmos also, with Pele, but I could not find any reference to that.
