There are no MLS teams in the southeast...Where do you think the first one will pop-up, I personally think that a team in Florida would do very well. I would love to see an MLS team in south carolina or maybe even do a Carolina team like the Panthers that are based in Charlotte.

If you have any information on a team coming to the South East in general lets here it.

There have been two teams in FLA fail. Tampa Bay Munity was one of the org teams in 96. The Miami Fusion was an expansion team in the late 90's I think it also failed.

I think the next(if in the Southeast) one should be in Charleston. I think you need to have a "soccer specific" stadium in orer to make money. I would like to see the MLS go to a system similar to the FA. Top three go up the bottom 3 go down.

Doesn't Blackbaud only hold 5000 people? I don't think that is big enough for MLS

You could easily add on. Might not be enough, but I will say this, it would look better on ESPN than a half empty football stadium w/ lines every which way or the old San Jose Stadium.

Seriously.

Two summers ago I saw DC United in RFK..and it would be generous to say the place was half full.. probably more like a third. Not very impressive.

NFL stadiums didn't start off as the colossal structures they are today.

Most EPL clubs that have been around for over 100 years still seat at or below 30-50,000.

I've never been to a Battery match so I don't know what attendance is like..but I think the Charlotte area could certainly handle it.

It will be 25 years before America thinks about doing the promotion/relagation process. There is a small push in England and other large markets to do away with the promotion bit. They like our financial stability of having set leagues. I think it makes for more exciting soccer near the end of the year, though.

So we can watch the same 8-10 teams who play way too long in the summer play a best of three again. I would rather see the promotion thing.

Yea if you think there needs to be a bigger stadium what about playing in Charlotte Panthers stadium. I mean there are only like 2 MLS teams that have there own soccer stadiums right now most of them are still playing in a NFL stadium. Charlotte could do the same thing. Charlotte also has a minor leauge team (Charlotte Eagles) that play in the same league as the Charleston Battery. They are not as good and dont have their own stadium though i beleive they play in a high school stadium.

I do think Charleston would have a good following for a soccer team.

1) the charlotte eagles are absolutely terrible, I have no desire to join a "cult" 2) blackbaud
would be an ideal setting for an mls team if expanded and 3) playing in
the panther's stadium would just continue the football field
embarrassing trend in soccer - you need to start an mls team in a city w/out any
major pro sports .

ESPN has written several articles about the Metrostars and their "ghostly" support in the Meadowlands. NFL stadiums are bad for the game.
