Would make sense! He lives in Southern California now. However, the German press really ridiculed his training tactics earlier this year for patterning them after the United States. Maybe his rationale is more akin to the U.S. ways compared to that of his native land in 2006.

It seems to be working for the Germans in WC 2006.

Any thoughts on who should have been included in the 2006 World Cup roster. I know Bruce Arena's loyalty to certain players is to be respected, but in my opinion this roster had too many holes. When the object of the game is to score goals, then I felt like the 4-5-1 formation was a detriment to begin with that was just compounded by the lack of goal scorers on this squad -- I hate non-attacking soccer!

What about John Hackworth, the U-17 National Team coach? I understand this is a big jump but hasn't he won several(at least 2) World championships? It seems to me like he would know how to develop youth better than Arena's system of finding college players instead of finding elementary school players who are rediculous.

I also heard Guus Hiddink - but today during the game the announcers stated he was moving to the Russian MNT.

Also I highly doubt Klinsmann would bring any controvery right now by stating a possible move to the USA while his German side is playing so well right now.

And who else is excited to see Freddy Adu in World Cup 2010 in Africa?!?! (pending injury or extreme weight gain - see Ronaldo)

Kyle, I'm also a fan of offensive soccer. As you know, I held to my infatuation with the Netherlands and the 4-3-3 as long as I possibly could. With the narrow fields that we so often play on around here, it still produces lots of offense. Unfortunately, Holland didn't produce this time around.

mb, Germany is indeed playing well right now and are, of course, the host country. I dread running into Dennis Cook if they do win the Cup. As if he isn't obnoxious enough already [Wink]

Guus was never rumored to be the U.S. coach. He signed with Russia before the WC started after talks with England broke down.

Kyle,

You are associating attacking soccer, or lack there of, to specific formations. What type of formation(s) demonstrates an attacking attitude? Which has B-C used over the last 4 to 5 years?
