Great points about SEPERATING athletics and academics.

Having funded academies/clubs U10 and above, under MLS and USL 1st Division teams,is the way to go idealistically.

If kids are lodged and fed there, in addition to a little basic education (which foreign clubs do have)in a specific vocational trade, then big salaries aren't needed at young ages.

If you make it, then you'll be set. If you don't, then into society you go. That's the system that the world follows so why do we think, in soccer, we can have a new answer.

Again, the rest of the world is also catching us in "our" sports of basketball and baseball. There is a system. Maybe, Americans should follow for once and not lead.
