What about having two Cola sites? Like Memorial and The Graveyard. We could host girls at one and boys at the other rotating each year. We need to keep the games in Cola for logistical reasons.

Its the cost that would shoot it down. I know they feel having them all together helps the gate for all involved. Plus as you know as well as anyone we don't have the man power for two sites and we depend on that money.

I know the costs involved favor continued use of Memorial Stadium, however as far as promoting high school soccer to its' fullest, I believe a deal at Blackbaud would better serve the prep game.

Being the only "soccer-specific" pro venue in the Southeast and one of only a handful in the country, I believe attendance and prestige would be met by playing at the Battery home.

I also think we should move to make this venue the eventual home of the North-South All-Star game on the condition that we can still make the money necessary to run the events in a first-class way.

Kevin if you can get the stadium and the sales to go with it I don't feel you would find anyone against it. I think $$$$$ is too big a factor

You're right, Blackbaud is out of the $$$ range, but if they were willing to simply "back prep soccer" it could be a great venue and "step up" for our association and the opportunity for our kids to play in one of the premier soccer venues in the country.

I think making Blackbaud the home for the state championship game is a bit ambitious. The "neutral site" idea goes out the window when you make the home for the title game anywhere other than the midstate. Think if Dorman had to travel to Charleston to play Wando. Would Blackbaud still be a neutral site? I would have to say no. Also, I think that gate money would be hurt b/c fewer lay-fans (friends of players, girl/boyfriends, school spirit people) would not travel from the upstate to Charleston. Another question would be what playing 9 games in a weekend would do to the pitch itself. I'm sure it could rebound pretty quick but that and the Battery's home schedule would have to be a consideration.

With all that said, I do not see any reason why Blackbaud should not be the permanent home for the North-South game. N-S is a showcase game for all-stars from all levels, and it should be held at a showcase facility. Maybe the Battery could give entry level season ticket packages to all players who make N-S. This would get more fans in the stands and the Battery could make some money b/c those people would still have to pay for parking and may buy concessions.
