Fellow Coaches,

This is just a reminder regarding the implementation of S 1157, an act of the SC General Assembly (The Dual Participation Bill.)
According to SCHSL, it is the school's responsibility to be sure that the following paperwork is on file with the athletic director:

"…a statement signed by the parent or guardian indicating the child or children have permission to participate on both teams and signed by the independent (club) coach acknowledging that the student's participation shall not interfere with the scheduled league (high school) games or practices." This is a quote from the law.

I strongly urge all coaches to do this. This creates an open and honest environment of cooperation between the school and the club that was the key to our positive experience at DF last year. This should be done for JV as well.

Brookland-Cayce HS has the following policy per our Athletic Department:

We are to use the same team rules as for missed practices or games. If they miss practice or games, they must be made up prior to participation etc.

I will be in touch with the coaches of the 1-2 kids that may be affected by Dual Participation with our Varsity team and have already established the ground rules for the 6-8 JV kids that will be affected.
