If a team tries to back out of a tourney the day before it begins, do they forfeit their matches? Is this covered in the SCHSL rule book?

This will depend if you had a contract There is a copy of this in the HSL Handbook.
I found out a few years ago there is no real recourse to take if someone breaks a "gentelmens" aggrement.
I evn had a situation where a team played in the morning, and not came back for the afternoon

Are we to the point where formal contracts are needed for non-region matches and tourney matches? I think we may certainly be headed in that direction (i.e. - football/basketball).
