I'm not a soccer head so forgive my naivety here, but I've got a question. ...and it doesn't necissarily involve Arena. I see Arena like I see Lou Holtz, I was glad to see them come here, but I'm more glad to see them go.
Why does the tenure of national team coaches seem so short?
I'm over simplifying it, I'm sure, but isn't the national coach about knowing the rules, getting a list of the nations best players and prospects, organizing schedules for practices, friendlies and matches, some physical training guidance, fund raising / promotion and applying the players skills in the best way possible? The need to develop players skill as a national coach doesn't seem that big a thing. What am I missing?
I understand that high level club coaching is a massive undertaking. Is that the simple reason?
I would imagine that national team coaching "dynasties" would be more common.
