October 10, 2006 - SPARTANBURG, N.C. — Junior Corey Lugger (Irmo, S.C.) has been named the Southern Conference men’s soccer player of the week announced by the SoCon office Tuesday afternoon.
Lugger had four assists on the week and assisted on all four of ASU’s goals in two matches including three assists in a 3-2 victory at league-leader UNC Greensboro on Saturday. He also assisted on ASU’s lone goal in a 1-1 tie against Elon on October 3.
His three-assist performance was just one shy of ASU’s school record and he currently leads the SoCon with eight assists and needs just one more to move into ASU’s top-10 in season assists.
Lugger will attempt to add to his assist total on Wednesday, October 11 when he and the Mountaineers travel to Furman to face the Paladins at 6 p.m. The Paladins are currently sixth in the league with a 1-1-1 conference record while ASU is tied for forth with a 2-1-1 mark.
