In reply to goldengrillz19 I would say this: Freshman: Joey Demare, Sophmore: Enzo Martinez, Junior: Danny Cates, Senior: Vance Benson

Or you could defend them the old fashioned way. Put two guys on each of NW's best players up top and every time they touch the ball, hammer them. Rotate the players in and out so that you get 4 or 5 with yellows from hammering them, and that will probably slow them down. You don't intentionally injur them, you just make them hurt a little bit.

Is that how they did it in the good ol' days at Irmo?

i don't think that strategy is gonna work fifteen. puttin your 5 best players up top isn't really a feesible idea. if you want to get in a shootout with nw, you will probably lose. if you put your 5 best players up top, who will defend? you're weakest players? i'll take nw there. man marking them and hammering them is probably the best way to attempt to defend them, but still is nearly impossible to do for 90 minutes. you have to have 3 very capable defenders that play close to perfect for the entire game.

It is all speculation. You could just as easily talk about Dutch Fork, Northwestern, Greenville, or Riverside.

to say that northwestern is at best average without their forwards is absurd. senior vance benson is the only in state player in usc''s recruiting class this. freshman robbie benson and fellow freshman alex martinez may be the best two freshmen in the state. senior center back will stillman may be the hardest tackler and best ball winner in the state. and when someone finds an answer to enzo martinez let me know. (a reasonable answer rather then put 5 guys on him or put 5 forwards up front to score more than nw)

Mike Bassett, one small correction: Sam Kleckley of Greenville HS also signed with the University of South Carolina earlier this month. Everything else I agree with you! Northwestern had an incredible squad last year and it appears the Trojans are going to be favorites once again in 2007.

Mike, If i remember correctly, the first time Dutch Fork played Northwestern in the Lake Murray Challenge, Carey Hite shut down Enzo. So you have no right to say that there is no way to shut down Enzo. When DF stuck Carey back there, enzo had maybe 1 or 2 shots the rest of the game and was no effect in the first game.
