Once again, SCSOCCER.COM has partnered with Kenneth Massey of the Virginia Tech Mathematics Department to compile the annual year-end "power ratings".

Mr. Massey graduated Summa Cum Laude from Bluefield College (Bluefield, VA) in 1997 and is currently enrolled in the Ph.D. program at VPI.

In addition, Mr. Massey is one of the members of the Bowl Championship Series panel, in which he develops and implements the college football rating model used by the NCAA to determine participants in the national championship game.

Listed below are the Top 50 Boys teams based on the "Power Ratings" -- a full list will be provided when time permits and will be available only to subscribers of SCSOCCER.COM when school begins in August.

Oh Goodie..more rankings. Can wait to see how low L-E gets ranked. But hey...I don't mind chanting "#91" again whenever we upset someone whos is ranked say 40th. But if there isn't something that motivates a team more than a rivalry its being underestimated..so bring on those low ranks.

The Power Ratings are based on "Strength-of-Schedule", "Offense Rank", "Defense Rank", and "Total Power".

The first number listed on the left side is the final ranking when all of the above are factored together.

Take a look at the full list at the address provided below.

Also, just eliminate any out-of-state teams that have a "-??" by their name -- these were needed to get a true "strength" measured since most of these teams played around 3-4 matches in tournament settings.

So, A.C. Flora would actually be #20 instead of Pope John Paul of Canada.

Wow..I will admit I was pretty shocked at first. But when you take into account all the factors thats comprise this ranking..it kind of makes sense. I still don't believe in rankings..but its nice to see where you stand with others around the state, statistically that is.

kyle i see what you are saying with the rankings. i play for Wren and i know we crushed some of thoes teams that are ranked ahead of us. easley we beat 5-1. TR we beat twice. but i understand what you are saying. i guess i just dot agree with it too much but who doesnt think their team should be ranked high.

many rankings are well thought out but there are many teams that got somewhat screwed......one teams beats teams above them twice and there are teams that had much harder schedules and they are still below.....it is neither logical or does it have really have any defense to have a team that got beat by another twice by a large amount still way ahead......i understand the "system' but the system sucks and many teams got screwed
