Palmetto-3 Dixie-2
Dixie overcame a 2-0 halftime defecit only to lose on a last minute rocket by #1 of palmetto at the end of the second overtime period. Good game a lot of action back and forth.

Lugoff-Elgin dropped its season opener to Andrew Jackson tonight 2-1 @ Lugoff-Elgin.
2-0 at the half. Goals for AJ came from a PK and a well placed free kick (far post top shelf - 5yrds outside the 18).
LE's Trey Jenkins pulled one back midway through the 2nd half via combination play from Rico Cervantes and Charlie Barker. There just wasn't enough in it tonight for the Demons. A missed PK late and a clear off the line from an AJ defender result in a 2-1 defeat.

Drop Kick, I believe Irmo has been "underrated" not because of their ranking, but because of everyones underestimating them in preseason polls and projections. We've heard plenty about DF, LEX, and NW in regards to making a run for state championships. I believe this is one reason Irmo has been so successful thus far. People didn;t expect them to be contenders, so they come to the game with that mind set. But, as the the Irmo boys have proven, hard work and determination often provide better results than talent alone. (They also have the Savitz factor...he continues to motivate marginal players to improve their game both individually and as a team) Congrats Irmo on your win last night.

Pendleton 0 Easley 3
After a very rough week for the Pendleton soccer teams, it was good to get back on the field and return to a sense of normalcy. Easley played a very spirited game and again led at halftime 1-0 and closed the door to any second half comeback. Good luck to you guys the rest of the season.

Congrats to the B-C boys on a great comeback victory at Memorial last night! That team truly found a way to handle adversity and win. As a former player, nothing makes you happier than to see a group lay it all on the line for a rivalry game and come away with a great result!!!

Chapin beat Swansea 13-0
Tonight they beat Ridge View 2-1 with goals from #2 and Joey DeMore. The score should have been 5 or 6 to 1. Chapin dominated the game for the most part, but well done to Ridge View, the worked very hard.

In reference to Stratford "doing so poorly lately", you're correct if "lately" means around 15 years or so. First the good news, a new coach with knowledge, passion, and dedication. A JV team (only in it's second year) to build off of. So, it seems Stratford is heading in the right direction. Not so good news. Turnout,it's my understanding that out of approximately 3ooo students, only 19 or 20 tried out for Varsity Soccer. Indeed, that's sad. Maybe some success will change that. Most schools (especially 4-A) have numerous club players. Players that have played the game for many years-year round-playing at a higher level of competitiveness. My guess is Stratford has only a few players in that category.Four, I think. Three of those players play Classic League, nothing wrong with that, but let's face it, that's not the same as Challenge or Premier League. I don't know if all are starters, but I don't believe all of them play for eighty minutes. The other club player has played Challenge and the last two years Premier League soccer. With rare exception, the "skilled" players have played many years in a very competitive environment. Soccer is by all means a team game- two, three or four "skilled" players are nice to have, but more is needed to have a successful program. Stratford has taken action to build a competitive soccer program. Down the road, I believe Stratford will be a force to be reckoned with. However, I have no clue on how long or short the road is. This post is not meant to belittle any person or organization, it's just the facts as I see them.

South Florence 3 Darlington 1 Great game, 1-1 at halftime. South scored one on a break away with a little less than 20 left in the game. They then scored another with less than 5 on the clock. Overall a good back and forth game. Both keepers played excetionally well.

re: gilbert soccer3
your previous comment about bl, bl taking AA state, i seriously doubt it, they play emerald wahalla, and if they even make it 2 the championship, u think they can hang with BE, i seriously doubt it
there forward might be sick nasty against your team, but i doubt they would start 4 a decent 3 or 4 A team. BL is not sick nasty
one can be beaten, two can defend themselves, but a a strand of three is not easily defeated

Lugoff-Elgin - 5 RNE - 4
3PK's, one red card, at least 5 yellow cards, an own goal, this game had everything, probably a little too much though.
Goals for LE-
Emmanuel Silva (PK) Rico Cervantes x2 (PK) Ricky Taylor Allan Taylor
Officials really lost control of this match, could have been a lot less work for them.
On a lighter note, great to see the Demons come out after a tough loss in the season opener and play to their potential for the W.
Personal note: Allan Taylor scored one of the better goals I've seen since watching HS soccer. 25 yards out - ripped a strike that never looked like stopping - hit the underside of the farside crossbar. Excellent strike. Also, despite 4 goals (one PK, one OG) senior GK James Smith had some huge saves for the Demons tonight.
Demons are now 1-1 for the season. Next match on Tuesday @Camden.

They can hang with those guys, they are very underrated. And those guys might not start on a 4A team but that doesn't really matter now does it, since they aren't a 4A team. So thats a pretty terrible argument

Cardinal Newman 3 Porter-Gaud 2 in OT
One of the best games to watch. Hard fought PG scored first and CN answered. PG scored again in the Second half with less than 10 minutes to go and CN answered. In OT PG keeper and defender had miscommunication and let on by giving CN a goal and the win in OT. Very good game. Both teams played well.

3/9 Region I-AA match
West-Oak 0 Pendleton 2
Goals from seniors James Roper and Tristan Herbert. Senior GK Chris Patterson with his second career shutout in just his third start!
West-Oak played hard and only has 1 senior, they will get better quickly with Coach Schumacher at the helm and will be a very solid team soon.

Kids play sports because they find it fun. Eliminate the fun and soon you eliminate the kid.

3/9 @Blythewood
Blythewood- 9 Eau Claire- 0
Blythewood did a nice job controlling the ball tonight, need to do some work on attacking the offside trap, had something like 7 offside penalties. Eau Claire kids showed some improvement from monday's performance, need to work on the fullbacks, they had a hard time knwoing their assignments and maintaining the trap line. Also the keeper needs to work coming out of goal.

I think there should be a tourney for the #1, #2, #3, and #4 seeds in 4a, 3a, and 2a to see who the top team really is. Cause Bishop England and Greenville are playing great lately, and Northwestern always seems to do pretty well. I think it would be an awesome tourney to see, with Greenville coming out with the win...

If Chapin dominated the entire match, why didn't Chapin score until the 2nd half? The first goal was an own goal.
