Outstanding effort by the Lady Gators...they came into this game hungry and came out with the win. Hats off to them for wanting it more than we did.

0-0 after regulation and 2 5's.
Chapin wins in sudden death with 1st kicker. Both teams 1 for 5 in first round of pk's.

Dreher-1 AC Flora-0 Dreher had a great run down the field (w/ several passes)to score the only goal in the last 4 minutes after having to play defense most of the second half. Flora played tough and looked good, but Dreher's keeper made several outstanding saves. These are the teams to watch in this region.

Dreher's goalkeeper is Margaret McCoy. She played outstanding. Coach K deserves some credit, too. He moved Ellison to forward with about 10 minutes left. The offense had trouble getting her the ball due to Flora's tough defense. Eventually she got it with some room to spare and was able to convert. As regards Dreher and Flora being the teams to watch, Dreher is now 4-0 in the region and has yet to be scored on. Flora is their only competition in the region. I cannot speak for all Dreher fans but it is nice to be out of the region with Chapin, BC, and Airport - all tough programs (not just teams).
My player is retired now. She's matriculating at Boston University.

O-W had players out and had to play very short tonight; hats off to the girls who showed up to do the job. They played with a lot of heart, and showed excellent sportsmanship from both the players and the coach. Positive vibes from this team despite the setbacks. Hope to see them continue to develop as they find out how great this sport can be!

Absolutly the worst job by a pair of refs I have seen in many many many years. In fact this one guy has a thread all about just him. Now I know why!!
Make that "had" a thread. I see it is now gone. Unfortunatly the truth hurts in this case......

Woodruff 6 Emerald 0
Woodruff is the real deal and just might be the team to knock Bishop England off the throne this year in 2A. My only disappointment was with a 3-0 lead at half time, Woodruff placed their best player, a USC commitment, up as forward. Bright spots from the Emerald team were Corinne Burdette who saw a lot of action on defense, Caroline Callison who earned the hustle award, and Alex Bishop for her kicks. Alex makes consistent corner kicks and BIG direct kicks look easy. Her kicks are a huge benefit to the Vikings and she was right on target again last night……the Vikings just could not capitalize on any of them.

Parkview GA 2 - Summerville 1
Summerville led the game 1-0 from the 1st 10 minutes until less than 2 minutes left in the 2nd half when Parkview tied up the score. Parkview took the lead in the 2nd OT. Tough loss for Smvl - they had the win in their grasp but ran out of gas. Parkview's coach cycled his players on and off the field - he did a good job of keeping fresh legs out there on a hot afternoon.

Also earlier in the week, Flora beat Camden something like 10-1 and then beat Chester last night 2-0 in overtime.

In the history of girls high school soccer at WHS, that team has been hammered numerous times 8-0, 10-0—by Emerald, CC, and other top teams. They feel this is their year and will not take any match for granted—even being up 3-0 at half time. I do not believe Emerald would have coasted if up 3-0 on WHS; in fact, in the past, they have always continued to play. WHS feels they are the top AA/A in the Upstate if not the state and must show that on the field. Continuing to play is a compliment to Emerald and its program, not anything else, I guarantee.

Refs at Emerald v. Woodruff were consistent and solid. Called a close game, but again—talked to players, warned carefully, then carded. As I have tried to do this season—THANKS to those refs for a good job!
