Yet another year of prep soccer gone by means yet another PLC title is up for grabs.

1st-3rd place trophies - sorry..this the best I can do till the "proper funds" are allocated.. ::cough cough:: ::nudge::

Before I waste valuable study time on this thread for the next week or so there are some things that need to be said.

The 06-07 season has been a difficult one for me. Not only did I leave the plush green tundra that is Bowman Field and Clemson University for the sizzling concrete of Columbia and the University of South Carolina.. but I also put in my first season of coaching HS soccer. This step away from being a player and amateur journalist has been a big one and a decision I'd encourage more people my age (but really of ANY age) to make! Not only have I learned more about the game and people/players, but myself as a player and a person.
You think you're too young to coach the youth of today or you don't know enough about the game. Ask someone for help. I was lucky enough to Asst. under Coach Steve Brown (Alan Riches has also been a big help ..and many more) and now I've got a solid foundation under me for what I hope is a long and successful career.

Having said all that - I am removing myself from competition this year. There are many worthy competitors that will easily fill my void. As I've learned this year - there are conflicting interests in everything and it's for the best that we take all the necessary precautions to be as honest and forthright as possible.

Now..to hold you over till the 2007 PLC field of contenders is announced - here are some interesting statistics that I have compiled. Perhaps Chico and the admins can help me out here a bit..

As of today - 4/30/07 -

There are 2,562 posters registered to this forum that are yet to post even ONCE!

There are four posters with more than 1,000 posts:
- laplageauxfolles: 1,273
- benp: 1,299
- Kevin Heise 1,808
- Chico: 1,843

There are four posters with over 2,000 posts:
- 2004Striker: 2,069
- Jack Rozier: 2,463
- Hurst66: 2,520
- Whiskey & Easy: 2,644

And there is one poster (and rightfully so) that has over 3,000 posts:
- Kyle Heise: 3,308

There are 141 posters between 100 & 1,000 posts.

With over 3,500 registered users here..I think these statistics speak volumes about how much this relatively small group (150 people) circulates information throughout the state of South Carolina, some nonsense, but mostly valuable input and ideas.

Lastly, the PLC has been a fun way for me to unwind during exam week for the last few years..as I will treat it the same this year. However, with all the fun and festivity that we partake in over the next two weeks with playoffs and such.. I'd encourage you all to reevaluate just how much you are committed to this sport/state - and how much more you could be. Many of you are coaches, players, refs, but many more of you can be one of these, or both, or all.. ..well..maybe not. God help you if you become a ref!

Keep your eyes peeled..

Perhaps you should recall your past "success" in the PLC before you get too cocky, CF.

PLC 2005
PLC 2006

As for this year..

Due to a belated Y2k glitch - there are no Excel spreadsheets detailing the criteria by which this year's field of competitors was selected.
But as always, the best of scsoccer.com's best are present and it promises to be an eventful tournament.

I will post the bracket tonight so that the various girl's coaches out there will be able to focus on their upcoming playoff games rather than worrying whether they made the field.

The moment you've all been waiting for is at hand..

During an intimate press conference held at Pop's Pizza in Five Points, Columbia the 2007 Poster's League Championship field was announced.

This year's field is considerably smaller than years past. Yes, gas prices and lack of funding/donations has taken its toll on the last bastion of the free world - imaginary messageboard posting titles. But hey, as a generation that's waaaaay old now once said - make do or do without.

Without further adieu - I give you the 2007 PLC tournament field.

As is the nature of time..many prominent posters of the past are present yet again - while many have fallen to the wayside. However, their places have been filled by a new era..a new breed of poster. It truly is an exciting time to be part of scsoccer.com ..really.. can't you feel it.

..woo.

For someone who complains often enough about files you can't read, you would post an inaccessible bracket. Some of our employers feel that the links soccer fans would have us read are detrimental--can the brackets be typed in?
