Why??? Loads of talent, but other than regular season wins over average competition not much else. Lost in first round of playoffs and didn't beat a ranked team all year.

Can the Georgia team play more than one game in a day or play multiple games in a weekend? Seems that has effected other Georgia teams in the past.

202677 I believe he said (Hart County coach)that he had close to 30 on the varsity roster last year and would alternate playing time/halves etc to meet the Georgia requirements. Plus our halves are only 30 minutes for this tournament thus helping him out with the minutes played per day issue.

Residents of West Columbia - BEWARE! I just received a phone call from a deranged soccer coach who is holding a bus driver and girl's soccer team hostage in a school bus. They are aimlessly careening through the Wattling/Platt Springs area. He claims the menacing moniker: DALE JR.

Got to see Clover play in person finally. They opened with Boiling Springs and were getting knocked around pretty good the first ten minutes of play. Boiling Springs was looking for real as they were keeping the pressure up. Once the Region 3 squad settled down, their possession ran the short handed bulldogs all over the field. They are very talented and play a very attractive style. Goal #1 came when a CHS player took a ball into the right side of the 18 and got hacked down. PK converted. Missed goal #2. Nice to see BS playing some good soccer, though. Much better than the team I remember 3 or 4 years ago as the talent has drastically improved. Who is the long haired guy on the sidelines?

This was a great day for soccer today. For only $5 you had your choice of 12 different games going on on two fields. The venue was great both fields are 50 yds apart. Tomorrow should be even better.

Junior,
You're only getting a taste of Clover, you are missing the entire package. The Lady Blue Eagles match against Woodruff last night was their third game in 26 hours, I'm sure their legs are a little tired.
They are also playing without (broken wrist) their best player, Rachael Newmister who, IMHO, is the BEST kept secret in South Carolina high school girls soccer.
Kids play sports because they find it fun. Eliminate the fun and soon you eliminate the kid.

Clover goes 3-1 at the Airport tourney? How can that be? Little ole' Clover? There are only 4 soccer balls in the whole town.
Perhaps this is a darned good team at every position? Oooopppppssssss, looks like there is a new power house in TOWN BABY!!! Guess what Clover is solid and a lot of teams are going to find out the hard way.

Airport beat S. Aiken 3-2 in the hard fought, exciting final. Airport looked good. They came back twice, scored with 7 mins. left to go ahead, then hung on for the win. The game was a darn good one. Note: Clover did look good in the tournament, taking 3rd place overall. The Airport tournament again was a well-organized and well-run event with perfect weather this year. Congratulations to Coach Morris and Airport for a great weekend of soccer.

Coach Morris, Congratulations. Don't forget to invite Clover back again in 2009. I think they'll leave the knife at home and bring the gun next year. Good luck with the rest of your season, looks like 3A is in for a great finish come May. Go get 'em!

Airport vs. South Aiken Final
Another great championship game at the Lady Eagle Classic. South Aiken played inspired and stepped hard to every 50/50 ball. South Aiken struck first on a through ball that led to a 1v1 which was converted by South Aikens forward. Less than a minute later Airport answered by a goal from freshman Emily Jeffcoat via a cross from Casi Jones. The first half was filled with near misses from both teams. Maybe being a little biased I felt Airport had the better scoring chances in the first half but overall a pretty even 1st half. Halftime 1-1. 2nd Half Back and forth we go with South Aiken's left forward cranking a low shot to near post that squeezed past the keeper. S. Aiken 2 Airport 1. Airport answers on a great header by Kelly Smith from Casi Jones. 2-2. Airport finishes off the scoring that was setup by a corner that was headed and then the S. AIken keeper makes a great save/deflection. Off the deflection it was ripped back in and either hit the post or the keeper made another great save/deflection but was finally finished by Casi Jones. Final was 3-2.
I want to commend Coach Young and South Aiken as they played very well tonight. Their keeper made some outstanding saves. I think they have improved tremendously from the Taco Bell and it will be interesting to see how Aiken, Irmo, Lexington, North Augusta, South Aiken and White Knoll(notice they are in alphabetical order) finish up in their region this year.

Keith, those lady Eagles were for real. That team has more speed than anyone I've seen the past two years. Two good old boys are running the helm and should be applauded for a great tourney and excellent team. Like he said, SA got on the board first, Airport came back and scored on a cheeky turnover in the back, and halftime we go. SA fits one through the eye of the needle in the 2nd, only to have the 2nd and 3rd goals scored to seal the deal on a corner and corner deflection. Haven't even come close to giving up a corner goal all year and Airport nailed two. Gives us something to work on this week Can we find a few more region 3 posters on the board, I don't think there are enough! Go T-Breds and congrats Airport!

I was asked about suggestions to make for the tournament. The only thing I could add would be a tad more security. I saw some blonde melon headed man continuously stalking one of those beauty queen girls working the t-shirt table. You know the kind they use to make the guys walk over and talk to her while she smiles a lot and convinces to them a shirt. I was concerned for her saftey (and her taste) so you might want to check that out in '09. I would have saved her but there is a beauty queen in Aiken that would have crowned me king of the couch if I had
Seriously, loads of fun seeing both and let me know how the ears go.

Wow--some guest you are Dale--leave my wife alone haha! I'll have our deputy taser (spelling Hurst?) you next year!
Congrats on S. Aiken making the top 10 and good luck in region play. I sorta feel like Airport is almost a part of that region having played North Augusta(scrimmage), Lexington(scrimmage), Irmo(Taco Bell), White Knoll(regular season), S. Aiken(tourney final), and Aiken(regular season still to come).
