All Friday matches have been postponed. I will post the schedule tonight after the Coaches Meeting at 8 o'clock at the Best Western hotel in Mount Pleasant.

The brackets have been totally changed for the 2008 Carolina Soccer Classic. Matches will consist of two 30-minute halves. All field sites will be determined on the day of the matches. Below is the Saturday/Sunday schedule:

SATURDAY

Group A
12 noon - Wando vs. Brookland-Cayce
2:30 pm - Fort Mill vs. Brookland-Cayce
5:00 pm - Wando vs. Fort Mill

Group B
12 noon - Lexington vs. Fort Dorchester
2:30 pm - Bishop England vs. Fort Dorchester
5:00 pm - Lexington vs. Bishop England

Group C
12 noon - Summerville vs. Academic Magnet
2:30 pm - Myrtle Beach vs. Academic Magnet
5:00 pm - Summerville vs. Myrtle Beach

Group D
12 noon - Spring Valley vs. James Island
2:30 pm - Pinewood Prep vs. James Island
5:00 pm - Spring Valley vs. Pinewood Prep

Sunday will consist of 40 minute halves.

Match 1, 8:30 am - A2 vs. B2
Match 2, 8:30 am - C2 vs. D2
Match 3, 8:30 am - A3 vs. B3

Match 4, 10:00 am - A1 vs. B1
Match 5, 10:00 am - C1 vs. D1
Match 6, 10:00 am - C3 vs. D3

Match 7, 11:30 am - Winner Match 1 vs. Winner Match 2
Match 8, 11:30 am - Loser Match 1 vs. Loser Match 2
Match 9, 1:00 pm - Winner Match 4 vs. Winner Match 5

Match 10, 1:00 pm - Loser Match 4 vs. Loser Match 5
Match 11, 1:00 pm - Winner Match 3 vs. Winner Match 6
Match 12, 1:00 pm - Loser Match 3 vs. Loser Match 6

Please don't count on this schedule yet. Final decision on play/no play and schedule will be made at 9AM. I'll post here by 9:15.

The tournament has been canceled due to the condition of the fields and expected more rain today. No matches will be played this weekend in Mount Pleasant.

Thanks for the cooperation of the tourney committee and their willingness to work it out, but Mother Nature just wouldn't help out this weekend.

Man, I just came back from the fields and there are NO games! What is up with that? They had soccer in the stadium and baseball going on, but no soccer! Ridiculous!

Town of Mount Pleasant owns the fields and made the decision. In their defense, I took my shoes off and walked around. My feet were under water several times.

I understand the town making the decision.
However, teams traveled last nite being told it was postponed not cancelled. Fundraising money was spent for hotels, etc., and some teams may have trouble getting out their contract with the hotels for checking out early. It is difficult to re coup that money. I would suggest a contigency plan for next year in the event this occurs again.

So much for that backup plan!!!!!
