Defense7,

While I appreciate your team pride and your defense of your teammates, we need to keep our comments respectful especially when directed toward the officials. Your point was that the referee was "letting them play" in a manner consistent toward both teams and that the game was won "fair and square". This is a reasonable position but should be expressed without degrading comments.

You and your teammates had a great season and excellent State Cup weekend! You deserve to be proud of our accomplishments. Let's be sure to express that pride in a sporting manner with respect for our opponents and the officials.

-Coach Paul

The Congaree Rapid RED89 boys U18 team defeated the Summerville SC Blue U18 team 4-1 in the championship match of the SCYSA President's Medal State Cup on Saturday, November 17 at the Columbia United FC Midlands Orthopedic fields on the campus of Spring Valley Presbyterian Church in Northeast Columbia.

The Rapid RED89 finish the season 12-1-1 overall. Congratulations to coach David Schroer and the Rapid RED89 on a great season!

Who is that sweaty kid in the yellow?! Get that guy a towel!

Edit: Goal scorers in the final?
Leaders for the season?

That is the infamous David Schroer (not sweaty, but did receive a Gatorade bath after the final from the guys), the architect behind the Rapid RED89s success this fall!

Kudos to Richland Northeast's Thomas Taffel who registered 9 goals during the State Cup tournament Nov. 10-11 and added a brace yesterday in the Final against Summerville.

Eduardo Adam, a Brookland-Cayce exchange student from Brazil, added two assists in the final as well. The team MVP for the season per Coach Schroer would be USC freshman and B-C graduate Andrew Richardson, who had a stellar fall campaign.

Congratulations to all the Rapid RED89s for concluding their youth soccer careers in style.
