Update for 2/22/08 (4 pm): Officials have contacted the tournament committee to inform them that some fields are in danger of becoming unplayable. The plan is as follows:
We walked the fields (they are soaked), but they are slowly draining and we were missed by all major weather. We are hoping that there is enough push from the west to keep everything moving just south of us. We are also a go with CUFC.Here are the adjustments, and it is critical that they be followed:
Today's games will be shortened to 30-minute halves. Kick-off times will remain the same. This will allow time for repair between games if necessary and also save a bit of time on the fields.
There will be NO on field warm-up tonight. I know that our space is limited, but the format honestly provides only a couple of minutes of on-field warm-up under normal circumstances. This is not perfect, but it should save lots of wear in small areas. Also, it will help keep us in the good graces of those with a stake in maintaining the fields.
Saturday - we plan to play as scheduled, but we may make some minor adjustments as warranted by field conditions after tonight. We will email any notifications and post on
www.ColumbiaUnitedFC.com. Sunday - we will make a call based upon field conditions late Saturday.
Thanks for all of your patience with this - I know you all have a lot invested in the trip to play here.
