How about South Aiken a few years back when they had alot of those Aiken Fire kids. Maybe not the best but deffinatly one of the most talented.

Phenomenon, I agree. Goose and Jamal alone set that team above every one else.

And you always have to throw in some Irmo squads. The one from 5 years ago I believe was very talented.

Northwestern had an amazing squad 2 years ago as well.

What about either of the following...
1994 Riverside: 27-0, State Champions
1993 Riverside
1992 Riverside

The 1992 and 1993 teams were part of records for consecutive wins and consecutive undefeated as well as the middle teams for the 7 consecutive state titles.

how about last years greenville high team...
27-0
only 4 goals allowed all season
finished number 1 in the nation.
Maybe not the best team ever in SC but definitely should be considered as one of the best

yea i def considered that team, and statistically theres an argument for them. but having watched them play, they were not the best team ive ever seen. probably one of the best finishing teams ive ever seen, but not the best team. for instance, i wouldve put northwestern before the state finals ahead of them in terms of quality.

Probably an Irmo or Riverside team although Wando beat # 1 in the nation Irmo in 2002. Our state has had alot of fine teams. I think Greenville and Eastside are both worth mentioning with this topic.

I remember that Wando/Irmo match. Great game, stellar teams.

Certainly not the best ever, but the 2004 Emerald team that won state is probably my favorite group.

2001 Brookland Cayce has to be mentioned. Bishop England w the Suarez bros in 93 was sick, as was Irmo and Spring Valley.

South Aiken 05'
Ridgeview 01'

Irmo 03' (Hard to choose one Irmo team but Saul Stoner's Senior year, they manhandled Northwestern in the final but somehow just won in PK's)

Northwestern 06' ( pretty talented squard with kropp, benson, enzo on same team)

Greenville 07' ( Just because they went undefeated and finished #1 in nation so they have to be considered)

No particular order. Feel free to criticize.

Bassett, you're leaving out key contributors such as Andrew Phillips, Ben Brannan, Taylor Crawford, DJ Piers, and James Clinton off the list for that STACKED '06 NHS team that couldn't even use Arroyo for the season. They're up there in best team ever discussion, they only conceded one goal that year which was an outstanding header by Nick Schuermann and won state.

They conceded more than one goal during that season but they are definitely up there. Those boys are definitely solid contributors I could have named along with some of the other starters you have left out.

I would have to say that the 1987 Irmo team was one of the best. The 1988 team was also good, but I think '87 was better top to bottom (I played on '88 and '89 Irmo teams).

In the 1984 state final Summerville beat an Eastside team that had not been beaten in almost two years. That Eastside team had perhaps the best offensive player I have seen in this state--a freshman named Hunter Richardson.

I say this year's Blythewood team is one of the best ever.

I am kidding. But that Dreher team was good but I don't think they can be considered one of the best ever. George Rush was heck of a keeper!

What about eastside 05, they were stacked. They had huffstetler, i dunno there last names but willie, jeff, shaun, erin harkins, and some other great players. I know they won state and think they had only one loss.

Bassett I forgot to count the preseason tournament loss to Dreher, in the regular season it was only 1 goal and the playoffs they only conceded one which was to Mauldin, my mistake.

They conceded 14 goals total that season including the LMC and playoffs.

They conceded 2 in playoffs I believe and several in the Palmetto Cup.

2 in the playoffs? I remember Mauldin got 1, but they beat North Augusta and Greenwood handily, then Lexington 1-0, and Spring Valley 1-0, but maybe I'm missing something here. Regardless it was an outstanding year on both sides of the ball for that team, especially when you consider all but one playoff game was away.

I would put the '88 Middleton team against any. That team won the AAA state championship and beat an Irmo team that won the AAAA title. The only blemish was a 2-2 tie at Summerville. Look at the players on that team and what they went on to do. Andrew Coggins was one of the best players in the country his senior season at South Carolina. He finished his high school career as the state's all-time leading scorer. Will Lindstrom was an All-American at Presbyterian, Willam Gettys played at USC, Doug Campbell was a four-year starter in goal for the College of Charleston. Hector and Victor Suarez went on to play at North Carolina. Several other players also played collegiately. That's tough to match up with.

Irmo 93, 94, 95 were all sick. The Ridgeview team in 2001 was excellent. BC 2001 was nasty to, with Troy Lesesne and Jabari Seabrook. Those cats could fly. South Aiken in 2005 was another good one. Last years Greenville has to be near the top.

I am going to agree with Anthony Pelton. I was on that Eastside team. Not only did Hunter score 31 goals that year, but so did State Player of the Year Scott Broderick.. Scott went on to play at Furman. When he graduated, he was their all-time leading scorer. Our back line averaged 6'3"+ and 190lbs+ AND they were soccer players.

As for being beaten by Summerville in the Championship, oh how it brings back bad memories. 2 of those backs red-carded. One for kicking the ball out of bounds too far (I am not lying)

One of the best, yes. "Hands down," not even close. They were outplayed in the finals, and I can think of many teams that were just as good, if not better, over the past decade or so. (Ridge View 2001, Irmo 95-98 & 2004, Riverside in the 90s take your pick, Greenville 2007, Eastside 2005, etc.)
I'm not saying they weren't a great team, because they were....just for you to say they were "hands down the best team" is a bit much.

yay for 2a soccer dude is right i would put that team up against any 4a 3a 2a 1a team that year and would guarantee a great match and probably a victory for chapin. Stellfox, Trey Aull, Joey Vitagliano, Eric Joyner, Matt Musik, Owen Jackson were all very talented players and 4 of the 6 i named went and played college soccer. Joey plays for New Mexico St. but yeh yay for 2a right..

There are 4 kids from Lexington, if not more, going to college to play next year. Does that make them equal or better?

There are more than 4 kids from your current Chapin squad going to play college next year. Does that make them equal or better?

There are 234098049320482304923243 kids on SV's current roster that will play college soccer either next year or in the near future (or prison soccer). Does that make them better?

'01 Ridge View had infinity + 1 kids playing college soccer. Does that make them better? I'll answer this one for you. Yes.

'05 South Aiken...

'01 BC...

These are just teams I can think of in the last couple of years. I agree though that they must have been pretty good to secure the 2A Championship Belt from Vince McMahon's favorite Bishop England and interrupted their slew of Title victories.

Eastside in the 1980s. Irmo in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Bishop England, Wando, and Riverside scattered throughout last two decades. Currently Spring Valley, Greenville, and Northwestern.

i would say that abbeville (and yes, i do play for them) has vastly improved from the team that we started with three years ago during my freshman year.

but definitely not the best team. i'm assuming that that was a joke, so i'm just going to leave it at that.

I'd say Irmo and Spring Valley in 1987 and 88. SV had Bret Boulware, Hunt Boulware, Mike Madden, Roger Godbold and Irmo had Ryan Kurtz, Page Jordan, Paul Burton, Matt Baughman. Definitely best all time SC teams.
