I think that score line and AC Flora's 0-4 record is good enough for them to be knock out of the top 15!!!

That's a pretty huge win for RH. Perhaps not the first in school history over FM, but I'm willing to bet the first in this millennium.

Rock hill vs Fort Mill was a good game to watch
0-0 at half time with Fort mill having a lot of chances to put one in before halftime. Many free kicks and corners right before half for fort mill.

In the first few minutes Rock hill put one in to go up 1-0. The game stayed back and forth throughout until rock hill put in another one with under 10 minutes to go.

Walhalla 4 - Palmetto 3
Tuesday, 3/11 at Palmetto on a dry field in windy & cool weather.

Shots on Goal: Walhalla 24 - Palmetto 26
Corner Kicks: Walhalla 7 - Palmetto 2
Yellow Cards: Walhalla #6 for tripping from behind; Palmetto #1 for elbow.

Goals: Walhalla - (2) #5, (1) #19, (1) #13; Palmetto - (2) #1 Ignacio, (1) #8 Mahaffey

TALE OF TWO HALVES - - - Palmetto came out as the aggressor and took control of the first half of play. They remainded on the attack the entire first half with 15 shots on goal, and the play kept almost entirely on Walhalla's half of the field. Play was fast-paced and well-played between two very good teams. Walhalla seemed to be on their heels and not expecting the quality of play that the Mustangs brought. After a quick goal by Walhalla in the first two minutes of the game on a defensive lapse, Palmetto rallied to score three times unopposed to make the half time score 3-1 in favor of Palmetto.
The second half was an interesting turn. Half time adjustments by Walhalla paid dividends. The Razorbacks came out the aggressor and took control. Palmetto seemed content to try to hang on, and for the first ten minutes, did so with a very good defensive strategy. As time wore on in the second half, the Mustangs seemed to wear out. There were too many times that Palmetto players took themselves out of plays with cramps, went down with injuries, or just were not in shape to keep up. Walhalla's superior conditioning and depth took over as well as an excellent game plan. Walhalla scored with 28:00 minutes remaining to pull to 3-2. Like sharks who smell blood, they could sense that Palmetto was struggling. But to the Mustangs credit, with several players hurt, they held on for another 15 minutes. With 11:00 remaining, The Razorbacks kicked across the tying goal. Then with 4:00 remaining, the winning goal. Despite a frantic effort by Palmetto the last four minutes, they could only get three more shots on goal - one that rolled just inches outside of the net. A final breakaway by Walhalla was disallowed as time expired. Final - Walhalla 4 - Palmetto 3.

This was a well played soccer match by two quality teams. I was impressed by the increased skill level and talent on both squads. They will meet again in Region play at Walhalla on April 21 - probably for the top spot of Region 1-AA on the line. Both teams should go at least into the third round of playoffs, and we may see another matchup at that time. Good luck to both teams.

Great teams - Great coaches - and it was nice to see a Great Soccer Match on the AA High School level!

Cap'n -
That was a surprising score between Pendleton and Abbeville. Has Abbeville improved that much? They were the doormat of Region 1 last year, with Pendleton being in the top level.
Any details?

With that type of record they should be out of any rankings. That is what happens when you are being led by a freshman. Hopefully, the end of the season will be alot better than the beginning for them.

Reporting Live from Goose Creek, SC

Game started off slow with Sumter striking off of a nice header from a corner. Stratford answer with about 1:30 left in the half on a breakaway by Austin Savage. Sumter scored in the second half on a keeper blunder to go up 2-1. After that it was all Stratford. Sumter has weak backs who were leaving the most dangerous person on the field wide open. To make a long story short Sumter fell apart and allowed 3 second half goals by Savage.

Chapin 0

Both teams had numerous opportunities...both keepers made some great saves.

SV was just a little bigger, a little stronger, and a little faster tonight....2 quality goals.

I saw on the scoreboard that Academic Magnet beat Lincoln 15-3. Is that correct?

The score is correct. I read it in the Charleston paper and spoke to a friend that was at the game. He said AM subbed early and often because they have games tonight with Barnwell and at Christ Church tomorrow. Several reserves scored and played significant minutes.

In looking at Lincoln's earlier games they have given up a lot of goals - 7 to Military Magnet earlier this week. They play North Myrtle Beach next. Let's see if this trend keeps up.

March 12th Walahalla 0 Christ Church 6
This was a tough loss for the Razorbacks mentally they were exhausted and realized that every night you need to come and play. Hats off to Christ Church they played a awesome game.

March 13th Walahalla 7 Abbeville 1
This was a better game for the Razorbacks who dominated the game and allowed a goal off a penalty kick. The Razorbacks were able to sit their starters and give more playing time to some of the rookies.

This next week should also be exciting to see them improve in each and every game. I am very honored to be allowed to coach them.

Pendleton 2
West Oak 3

Pendleton led 2-1 in the first half before West-Oak scored the second of it's first half hustle goals to tie it up before halftime. West-Oaks third goal came off a rip from the corner of the 18. Pendleton pressured the goal in the second half but could not punch one home to tie.

To answer Soccer08's question from earlier, yes, Abbeville is improved but Pendleton lost 8 starters from last year's squad and only have 4 returning players overall. We start 2 freshmen, 5 sophomores, 2 juniors, and 2 seniors and have a lot of learning to do. I expect us to get better as the season progresses but it will take time as players learn the speed of the game and what it takes to be successful.

According to the paper, he scored 2 of the 3 Lincoln goals. From what I heard, he started at forward; moved to midfield after AM scored a few goals; then went to defense; and moved back to forward towards the end.

Palmetto 10 - Crescent 0
Thursday, 3/13 at Palmetto on a dry field in perfect 70 degree weather.

Shots on Goal: Palmetto 43 - Crescent 3
Corner Kicks: Palmetto 5 - Crescent 0
Yellow Cards: None

Goals: Palmetto - (3) #1 Ignacio, (3) #14 Roberts, #10 Nino, #17 Beltran, #100 Henderson, #6 Jones
Assists: Palmetto - (2) #9 Bowman, #10 Nino, #8 Mahaffey, #11 Whiten

First Year of Varsity Play: In their first year of varsity play, Crescent will take its lumps. But I commend them on a hard-fought match with great effort and no quit!
Palmetto was clearly the dominant and experienced team tonight as they scored quickly, easily, and often. After only 15 minutes of play in the first half, the Mustangs were able to pull all starters and give valuable minutes to reserves. Crescent held their own at that point giving up only 1 more goal to make the half time score: Palmetto 4 - Crescent 0.
The second half was more of the same. Again the starters only played 15 minutes and then were subbed out. Final score was lopsided, but I give credit to the Mustang coach for making the players work on passing, drops, and teamwork. Credit also goes to the Tigers for playing hard to the end! They never gave up and hopefully learned from this loss. Good luck in future matches!

For those that attended the SV Chapin game what was your opinion about the yellow card late in the first half that the last Chapin defender received for tackling the SV player from behind as he broke toward the Chapin goalie? Did the ref make an acurate call or should it have been a red card?

It's a sending off offense if:

denies an obvious goalscoring opportunity to an opponent moving towards the player’s goal by an offence punishable by a free kick or a penalty kick

In my opinion it should have been red, but it is a close call. It occurred right at the top of the eighteen, but the attacking player would probably have controlled the ball had he not been fouled.

Frankly, I thought the trip on Flynn in the second half was an easier to call to make (penalty, but not a card), but they didn't make that one either. The officiating in HS is generally mediocre at best in my opinion.

I normally dont post about a game but I have to say what a HS soccer match. End to end and both teams played thier butts off. For those of you that dont think SCISA soccer is any good you are sorely mistaken. Congrats to Coach Pinasco and the Hammond SRs. Tonight was what HS soccer is all about! See you at the rematch.

To my guys that might read this, I am PROUD of you! Keep your heads up and it will figure itself out.

Woodmont 3

After a late start this was a very hard fought match on both sides. Lots of scoring opportunities for the bulldogs but right now the finishing ability is lacking. 2-0 halftime lead, final score coming in the 74th minute after sustained pressure the other way.

Although we played fine last night and deserved the win,James Island, with their two best players unable to play, absolutly got in our face and played hard for 80 minutes with nothing but positive re-enforcement among themselves--just a reflection of the coaching they recieve down there.
When these two young men are able to go, this will be a team to be reccond with. Good luck the rest of the season.

Airport played a strong game and a strong over time.. has to be my favorite game that we have played/won all season they have a strong Center mid #4 I believe...over all it was a great game and both teams had a nice turnout of fans, and everyone played their hearts out for the full 90min of game time.

if you are talking about the stratford game it was striker erik j. last name is hard to spell. jumped up for a header clean challenge and received a red after, everyone never really understood. then we had to play summerville without him.
