Byrnes' Patton. Seems to have flown under the radar until this year. Some amazing stops against highly ranked teams and in shoot-outs.

Mauldin has two outstanding keepers. Morgan Hert and Curren Smith. I would stack them up against any keeper(s) in the state.

Hert is a soph and Smith is a Jr. Both have good size and strength. They split time in the net. Therefore, they may not accumulate the stats of some keepers. They are too good for either of them to sit so the stats my not pop-out at you.

Watch for both of these keepers to play big time college soccer at the next level.

Define......."big time"?

I think any young lady who plays college soccer, at any level, should be considered very successful.

Hats off to the Mauldin keepers, Lady Mavs are fortunate to have the two of them.

I totally agree that any player that reaches the next level to play soccer at the college level is be congratulated regardless of what division they play in.

I was simply stating an opinion that these two specific players have a chance to play division 1 soccer. I wouldn't be surprised to see 1 or both end up playing in a conference like the SEC or ACC, etc.

No disrespect intended to any kid that reaches their goal to play college soccer.

South Aiken has a similar situation in Madison Lightbody and R.B. Wyatt. It's a great season when God blesses you with two quality keeers.

Caitlin Fountain at AAA Blue Ridge - three year starter, six shutouts this year. Plays for Foothills Soccer team, had 39 saves on 40 shots against Wade Hampton last year. Trained, effective, and deadly. I believe that she will play at Presbyterian after graduation.

Woodmont Girls team has one of the best keepers in the state Katie Tate. She plays for CESA U17 Premier, ODP, and has been to the National ODP goalkeeper camp.

Fluffy - You are lucky to have 2 quality keepers. My daughter has played against Madison over the years in club ball. Is her nickname still "Maddog"? With a nickname like that, you know she is tough keeper. Having talked to her in the past, she is sweet, quality young lady on top of being a strong keeper. You are lucky to have her.

You've got a good one there Flav. First time we saw Maddog was in her U13 days with the Aiken Heat. She had full command of the net then, so I can only imagine how good she is now. You're lucky... first Kendal, now Maddog.

speaking of Kendall...I am fortunate to have returning all-state keeper Kendall Maxwell backed up by another senior Abby Waters while sophomore Kaitlyn Neipp (CESA premier '92) is playing in the field this year before taking over for Hanna next year.

I remember Maddog back in her U12/U13 days. Great battles with the Northside Koalas.

She made Coach Victor look like Arsene Wenger!

Emerald High’s Rachel Baggett is a good keeper. Though I have not seen her much in high school action, she made a big impact on her club team this past season. Her team nicknamed her JEDI because “only a JEDI keeper could make some of the saves she made.” I remember one game she played in where the opposing team was fighting to come back from a 1-0 deficit. It was heavy traffic in front of the goal and a shot came from about six feet away and was low and to the corner. Everyone knew that ball was going in but she dived and managed to get a hand on it. It was an amazing save, and I am glad I was there to witness it. Her team ended up winning that game 1-0.
A very nice kid who I understand will be playing at Lander next year.

Here is the coverage of the Dorman vs. Mauldin game on High School Playbook. Robinson and Hert are two of the best keepers in Region II AAAA.

Does anyone know what club team Robinson plays with? I know that Hert is the keeper for CESA 91 premier.

Great footage. It's too bad anyone has to lose a match like that.

I believe Robinson played for the CESA 89 Girls Challenge team. That was great footage of her!

Cricket Wise of Walhalla HS and CESA 89 Premier. Cricket will be playing for Kevin Dempsey at the College of Charleston next fall.
