Interesting to see that a few weeks into the 2008 season, two upperstate regions in AAAA appear to have perhaps more depth in their top five teams than ever before.
Region II-AAAA - 4 Top 15 teams, plus a tough Boiling Springs squad in the 5th slot.
#4 Byrnes #3 Dorman #9 Mauldin #11 Spartanburg NR Boiling Springs
Region IV-AAAA - 4 Top 15 teams, plus an Aiken squad that can feasibly compete with anyone in the state.
#2 Lexington #6 Irmo #12 South Aiken #15 North Augusta NR Aiken
With over half of the AAAA top 15 made up of only TWO regions, and half of the TOP 10, both the race for the region championship and even the quest for that elusive 4th seed to just get into the playoffs may be up for grabs until the final week!!!
When looking at other AAAA, or even AAA regions, are there any other teams that are making strides towards the top or that appear to be headed for a down year?

AAA Region II (Eside, Rside, and J.L. Mann) and AAA Region IV (Airport, BC, and Chapin) are as tough as they come for that class. All can be contenders for the Upper State at the minimum.

Don't forget Wade Hampton in that region. Wade Hampton has qualified for playoffs for many years and has quality coaching and players. Their only losses year after year are to Eastside, Riverside, and sometimes to Mann.

Where is the love for Region 3? Come on pollsters, take a look!
Senior-less Nation Ford is 5-1-1. Sophomore-heavy Clover is 3-2-1 (with a draw against Dorman).

Come on Hurst:
Nations Ford has no quality wins and lost to a 3-6 Northwestern team.
Clover is good.

Hurst, What is the Nation Ford mascot? Then we can use NF "mascot" and we will not add the "S".

Over here on the Fort Mill side, we affectionately refer to them as The Falcon Nation!

Clover is good.
My daughter plays for Nation Ford and I agree with you totally. We're doing well as a first year team with no seniors in a weak region.
We gotta keep it real. But Ben is an excellent coach and will build a very good program over time.
Hurst is a great cheerleader for the area!!!!
