Interesting to see that a few weeks into the 2008 season, two upperstate regions in AAAA appear to have perhaps more depth in their top five teams than ever before.

Region II-AAAA - 4 Top 15 teams, plus a tough Boiling Springs squad in the 5th slot.

#4 Byrnes
#3 Dorman
#9 Mauldin
#11 Spartanburg
NR Boiling Springs

Region IV-AAAA - 4 Top 15 teams, plus an Aiken squad that can feasibly compete with anyone in the state.

#2 Lexington
#6 Irmo
#12 South Aiken
#15 North Augusta
NR Aiken

With over half of the AAAA top 15 made up of only TWO regions, and half of the TOP 10, both the race for the region championship and even the quest for that elusive 4th seed to just get into the playoffs may be up for grabs until the final week!!!

When looking at other AAAA, or even AAA regions, are there any other teams that are making strides towards the top or that appear to be headed for a down year?

AAA Region II (Eside, Rside, and J.L. Mann) and AAA Region IV (Airport, BC, and Chapin) are as tough as they come for that class. All can be contenders for the Upper State at the minimum.

Don't forget Wade Hampton in that region. Wade Hampton has qualified for playoffs for many years and has quality coaching and players. Their only losses year after year are to Eastside, Riverside, and sometimes to Mann.

Where is the love for Region 3? Come on pollsters, take a look!

Senior-less Nation Ford is 5-1-1.
Sophomore-heavy Clover is 3-2-1 (with a draw against Dorman).

Nations Ford has no quality wins and lost to a 3-6 Northwestern team.

Clover is good.

Hurst,

What is the Nation Ford mascot?

Then we can use NF "mascot" and we will not add the "S".

Over here on the Fort Mill side, we affectionately refer to them as The Falcon Nation!

My daughter plays for Nation Ford and I agree with you totally. We're doing well as a first year team with no seniors in a weak region.

We gotta keep it real. But Ben is an excellent coach and will build a very good program over time.

Hurst is a great cheerleader for the area!!!!

Hurst/Big Daddy,

You are the winners.. Come to Nation Ford to pickup your new 1965 Falcon with seat belts included.

Early in my life I had a Ford Falcon with a 3 on tree...what a tank.

It was quite a sight seeing old Vic and the Lizard King conversing up in the stands on Friday night. I thought we would have needed a referee over there!

Agreed on Vic.

Also agreed on the imagery of Hurst in a skirt. Kind of reminds me of the cheerleaders from The Longest Yard remake with Adam Sandler.....

This dress talk worries me. However, I did one time long ago have a dress printed with uniform numbers and a team name and took it to practice to demonstrate that if we didn't get tougher there were other motivational options.

It worked.

Absolute shocker.

Nation Ford is now 6-1-1 with a 1-0 win over Clover (who tied 1-1 with Dorman).

Nation Ford should crack The Top 15 on Sunday night.

Clover was without their best player, Rachel Newmister, who broke her wrist last weekend against Dorman. Hopefully Rachel will be back tomorrow night when Clover heads south for the Airport Tournament.

Clover was missing Rachel and their starting goalie. However, they just got beat. Only got a few good shots on goal. Maybe only one, I can't remeber exactly.
Clover started off dominating the game and it looked just like the Northwestern game for while. But Clover couldn't score, didn't sub at all and in the end just couldn't get it done. Good chance to tie at the end.

I'd like to drop South Aiken from the Top 15.

Both teams have 6-1-1 records and Team Fluffy's win over White Knoll was not as impressive as the Lady Falcon's victory over Clover.

Beethoven....we have either 13 or 14 girls on the roster. There wasn't much subbing going on our side.

You guys were missing Rachel and outplayed us, but you didn't outwork us. It goes into the books as a NF win and that's due to a very gutty performance by the Lady Falcons.

Good luck to you guys at your tournament this weekend.

They might not have been on the right side of the scoreboard at the final whistle.....but at least they showed up for all of them.

Still have two matches each remaining with Clover and Nation Ford in April...plus dates with Charlotte Country Day and Butler (NC).

Big Daddy, I have to disagree with you on the NF game. We weren't outworked just out played. NF just beat us. The rematch should be fun.
