What's the asterisk mean? Committee moderator or chair?

The asterisk means that coach is coaching the all-star game. The coaches were released in January.

Thanks.

By the way, good to see the coaches were released.

Why, and where, were they being held?

Also, a reminder that only INVITED coaches on the list above are permitted to serve on these committees.

We've had several e-mails inquiring if folks can just show up and participate and this will not be allowed.

A roll call will be taken at 8:50 a.m. for the All-State Meeting in the BCHS Auditorium and a review of the rules and procedures will be covered.

The meetings will start promptly at 9:00 a.m.

GUIDELINES

The SCHSSCA sponsors an All-State Team for each classification that awards an individual state champion. The following guidelines should be followed when selecting the All-State Team.

• Committee members are expected to "do their homework" prior to attending the meeting in order to ensure that the meetings are efficient and thorough.

• Please check personal egos and agendas at the door prior to the meeting.

• An 18 player All-State Team will be selected for: Boys – Class 4A, 3A, 2A, and 1A; Girls – Class 4A, 3A, and 2A/1A.

• The All-State Award is based on 2008 performance only – not past accomplishments or achievements.

• All teams will consist of at least one goalkeeper.

• Consideration for all geographic areas of the state should be taken into account.

• This is a High School award and club participation and performances should not be the deciding factor.

• If a player is going to attend a NCAA major Division I school, then he/she should be strongly considered for inclusion.

• NSCAA All-American(s) and All-South players should be strongly considered.

• Priority for selection should be for players that have played and contributed to high-level programs – i.e. – ranked teams.

• We are looking to select the strongest 18 players regardless of position or year in school. However, if a tie-breaker should exist, preference should go to the older player.

• Players selected to the Clash of the Carolinas all-star team should be strongly considered for inclusion.
