After Aiken had a fair amount of the play in the 1st half, South Aiken came out to play in the 2nd. A superb, diving, one handed, one-on-one save by Madison Lightbody kept the game tied & then South Aiken scored first with about 20 minutes left on an excellent corner kick (header I think). Then Ellen Bryan scores from way out on a 30 feet in the air desperation shot that just goes under the crossbar. With 7 minutes to play, Maggie Bosley beats the defense almost goes on one on one with the keeper & shoots as she fights off an Aiken defender. The keeper saves the ball that was ripped right at the keeper. PK was awarded. I yelled too much. Maggie scored. Maybe Coach Young can give you more info. I've never been more disappointed in an officials call in 15 years of high school soccer and have only been the benefit of one such call (many years ago against Lexington in the playoffs but my player was never even able to get a shot off). Apologize for the sour grapes b/c South Aiken girls are great kids.
Some FM starters never played. Regular keeper Alexis McLaine played forward. Reserve keeper Hattie Ruch touched the ball once, not long before the match was called. Even RH pulled regular keeper Maggie Rogers out so she could play forward in the second half, and put co-captain Jackie (I've never played keeper before!) Alexander between the pipes. Fun time had by all.
