Anyone thinks that Mt Pleasant would be interested in being part of the CESA umbrella? Don't think so, Mt Pleasant takes a lot of pride in its identity

soccerislife,

The number of clubs in the area isn't changing. Now it could be that the make up of some teams change due to this different opportunity. So I again have to infer from your statement that some of the players, but not the entire teams, in the area would migrate from where they are to CESA? To me that's the only way any additional "dilution" would occur.

As for Mt Pleasant. While I don't think they would be interested in being under any umbrella, other than their own, I don't think they would be so overtly against a CESA endeavor as they have been against Bridge.

When folks talk about "dilution" being a problem; here's what my translation typically is -- "Some parents/kids are stupid for not being a part of my club, therefore I'd like to shut down their club, eliminate their choice, and thus force them to help my kid at my club."

I've said for a long time that "dilution" is only a symptom; the root cause is a lack of differentiation of services and a lack of penetrating underserved markets. It's been a long time since I rigorously did a club density exercise; but here's a rough "dilution" view -- from it I would guess that the weakest clubs are in the upstate.

Mount Pleasant better get their teams more competitive or you may see a migration up I-26 to Summerville/CESA. Mount Pleasant only has one team still alive in State Cup. For all the time and $$ parents are spending, the results are just not there.

Oh, I forgot, it's about individual development.

it is odd that with york county being in the top 8 and looks like if numbers are right will be one of the biggest growers by 2010 and they do not have the organized club soccer like other areas.some of it is due to kids playing in charlotte.looks like cssc is trying to work for the kids and give them an option.
