I don't know who has the most, but, Jafet Vera from Dillon has 12 goals and five assists in 6 matches. Not too shabby.

Kemar Smith of Darlington has 34 goals and 8 assists.
Probably one of the best "unknown" players in the state. Originally from Jamaica.
Had 19 goals and 21 assists last season.

Joey De Mare from Chapin I heard has something like 22 goals and 12 assists? And he missed the first 5 games so he has only played about 11 or 12 games. Those are some pretty good stats. Defiantly in the running for best player in the state.

Goalkeeper stats question –
When a pk is awarded for a foul in the box and is made, is this goal added when calculating a keepers goals against stats?
When two teams go into pks how are these goals counted in regards to goals against stats?

I can't cite a rule or anything but it stands to reason that a made PK counts as a goal in the GAA. On the other hand, shootouts to determine winners of tie games are not, technically speaking, penalty kicks. They are "kicks from the spot" and are not goals. So, they would not be considered in a GAA.

the only reason savage has as many goals as he does is because their coach leaves him in the game when they are up by a lot so that they can run the score up on teams that are horrible like OW, Berkley, Goose Creek and so on... so he might have a lot of goals but he is no "Beast of a Scorer"

I talked to a player from Wilson that said he walked off the team in the middle of a match and quit? Is that true???

Dear Sick,
Here we go again. Same song, same dance, different year. I ignored it last year, but not this one. Like any other team Stratford plays some teams that are weaker than others. Just like every one else. Savage has not played an 80 minute game against any team that you listed. Yes, he scored against them, but had to do so within 29 to 40 minutes. Coach would not allow it. He has too much class. I don’t think anyone in or out of soccer would disagree with that. I take serious offence with your comments concerning our coach. A respected man who recently returned from overseas, away from his wife and two very small children, serving our country and protecting an idiot like you. His sacrifices’ allow you the freedom to get on here and trash him. The coach is nothing but CLASS. As far as Savage is concerned, maybe you need to be educated (if that’s possible). He has scored against Wando, Beaufort and Fort Dorchester, none whom I would call weak. He didn’t score against Summerville because he played sweeper that game- he did manage an assist though. In fact, this season he has played defense, center-left-right mid in several games. Savage has good games and sometimes not as good as he would like. He scored 56 goals last high school season. According to a few Chapin players, Savage is the only player that they knew of to have ever scored 5 goals in one game against them. That was last season when they only gave up 27 goals all season long. There is not a single Region VII or VIII coach (and others) that doesn’t know his capabilities. They prepare part of their game plan with Savage in mind. Yes, I know about the phone calls. He’s still getting the ball in the net, but having to bust his butt - being a marked man. And it’ fine with him, he believes that it will make him a better player. To carry it even further, he is the top scorer for his Bridge team. Was leading scorer out of all 32 USSF U-16 academy teams nationwide more than halfway threw the season. Strong teams from all over the country – some stronger than others ( weird isn’t it ? ). An ankle injury resulted in him missing 4 games and playing limited in several more, so I’m not sure where he stands at this time in the Academy League concerning stats. Also, in his first ODP experience last summer he was a camp holdover in Mississippi. I promise that it had nothing to do with who is daddy was. There are two D1 and a few D2 college coaches that think differently than you do. So, I reckon you are more knowledgeable than all the high school, club, ODP and college coaches. Savage works hard daily to improve his game, not many days go by, year round, without him touching a soccer ball. Yes, he has a soccer field in his yard. He loves and respects the game. It’s his life; some would say more than it should be. More importantly than all of the above, he’s a good person. He’s respectful, cares about his family and friends and has never been in any trouble at all. Grades run close to the 4.0 mark. He would never get on an open form like this and talk trash like you do. Especially, since you know nothing about what you state. Those are just some of the facts. Savage’s only problem is – let’s see, how does my old friend put it – (and you know who you are)  his dad “can be difficult at times”.

ok this has nothing to do with your coach serving overseas which i respect him for thhat..but its obvious you are from startford parent/player..and savage is good but seriously he isnt that good..he doesnt score or really make that big of a difference against GOOD teams thats what im saying and against teams that arent good yes startford likes to run the score up no doubt about it.

I've never seen the young man play but have heard from some folks at CESA and even a college coach comment that he is a clinical finisher. Numbers don't lie and he's playing in AAAA and a high level of club ball so he must be above average at least. Wish they would come to the upstate some time.

Savage is probably like my guy. Last year he had 19 goals and 21 assists. This year he has 39 goals and only 8 assists. He doesn't have the finishers around him this yeat that he had last year. Thus, supporting cast makes a big difference as well. He takes it upon himself to score the goals. I've never seen Savage play either, but sounds like a similar situation.

While I am not saying that Savage isn't a great goal scorer, but Paradox, your comments about the coach being overseas and protecting an "idoit" like sickwithit is completely irrevalent to his coaching abilities. Also, you are doing just as much bashing as he is.

Ricky is a great player and has lead various levels of soccer in scoring. I asked the 3A question as the 15 and 11 assists also pertains to a Freshmen. However, his team is not ranked. Just curious where the numbers match up.

I'd say thats pretty good i know Blythewood has 3 or 4 players tied at 12 or 13 goals id say thats a pretty good season for a 3A player on a non-ranked team.

Interesting! What part of the state (Columbia, right)? Did this player score any vs. BWood, Dreher, BC, or Chapin?

My previous post was not to say that Savage was the best player since sliced bread. My point was/is that your prior post(s) concerning him are simply not accurate.

I agree that serving overseas doesn’t make you a good coach. I don’t agree with everything this coach or any coach or anyone else does. For me it does mean the indivual has honor and character. This means that you try to do the right thing. Being honest and fair and not intentionally embarrassing an opponent.

I stated that the coach had class. I never stated that I did. I’m confident that he would not get on here to defend what you said about him. Because he has class and he’s smarter than me.

Porter did shut down Savage one game. Porter is a very physical and skilled player. But, consistently, please. I wouldn’t call one game “consistently”. Porter and Savage have played on the same team in the past. I could be wrong, but I think they respect each others skills. I’m don’t have the dates in front of me, but if my memory is correct Enzo has had matches where he didn’t score. And yes, Enzo is a great player. I believe any forward can be shut down under certain circumstances. As for Watson and Myers, Savage has also been on the same team with both of them. If you know them ask them about Savage. I’m confident that they both would disagree with you.

You all are free to have your own opinion concerning any player. But, try to base it on what you have seen, not your imagination. Have something to support your post on an open form.

I stand by my earlier post. As for me and mine, we are happy concerning where we are and excited about the future. I wish the best for all the players.

Enzo is an excellent player; Watson has game-breaking pace, good skill and is left-footed; Savage is very strong on the ball, has good vision and a vicious shot. All three should do well at high level Division 1 programs. The question of who is best is silly; like comparing apples and oranges. Who's better Fabregas, Robben or Rooney? It depends on the game situation, teh team, the opponent, etc.

Savage is pretty good.. i played against him last year. he's definetly dangerous when he's on top of the 18. last year he weaved through our defense and scored a beauty that was tucked away neatly into the side netting. even though stratford lost, savage put that team on his shoulders and got a goal back for his team. quality player with tremendous heart.

Yall Boi need to chill on this message bored haha I'm just kiddin but seriously. Newayz on the topic about Austin Savage first off SickWithIt Don't talk if you don't think Austin is a good player. Yes that artictle may be a little bit far fetched but he is one of the best fowards in the state hands downs. Technically he is a good player, it isn't so much his physcial presence he just reads the game and knows how to get his team involved and that's why Stratford beat JI the second game because he was a decoy. Griff and Henry way too critical HomeZ obviously when you compare EnZo to most of the players in the state they may not match up but dude has been on Region III Team for like what? 4 or 5 years..Yeah if you haven't noticed he's one of the best players in the nation. So Moving on Austin is actually our leading scorer on Bridge in front of Justin Watson, Porter plays D. NeWayZ Paradox your str8 don't worry-- Savage is A BEASTTT of a scorer!!

He is from Columbia AC Flora. 2 assists vs Blythewood in the second game; Penalty kick after being taken down in the box vs Dreher; The other games were scoreless on our side. He has been man marked in every game this year including Chapin, BC, Dreher and Blythewood. I was curious as to how the stats match up in 3A this year? Still don't know the answer to that question but I would bet there is not another Freshmen in 3A with better stats. Yes, Ricky is a Freshman in 4A and also has a team.

In order to view the 2008 Individual Statistics you must be a subscriber to SCSoccer.com.

The quote above got me thinking, perhaps somewhat erroneously at 5:45 a.m., but I'm going to get on my soapbox here and spew for a few minutes. This is totally unsolicited from Kyle (and he may even delete/edit my post), but I get taken aback at times when folks feel cavalier at the information that is supplied here, like it is some divine right.

For what it is worth, the $15 subscription is fairly inexpensive considering all of the free content and Message Board that SCSoccer.com offers. In fact, I believe every soccer program in the state that simply uses the Scoreboard portion ought to see fit to buy a yearly subscription. Where else can/could you find your running record, region record, opponents record, rankings, etc.? Heck, the Scoreboard is more up to date, than most individual HS sites that only pertain to that one team or program.

I have often argued with Kyle vehemently about making the entire site -- everything -- available only to subscribers, but he's been adamant in keeping it open in order to better promote the sport.

However, it's not cheap running this site for him, and he doesn't get paid. $15 from everyone that posts, checks scores, etc., would be a small token of appreciation for his often late, late nights; early, early mornings; and constant weekends and time spent on days off working on this site to provide our sport with a vehicle that no other in prep sports in our state has. (Sidenote: Kyle does have a "real job").

I personally feel that SCSoccer.com has done as much in the last 10 years (not even going to get into Kickin' Around - which preceded the internet version) to promote high school soccer as anything else in our state. It is a model that has been attempted to be used by other prep sports, but they've all failed. Other states have tried to implement the same soccer aspect, but the sheer time and effort required often loses its' steam after a season or so. We are fortunate to have such a forum.

Wow !! I bet the other kids from AC Flora and their parents are glad to know they aren't really part of the "team". Hope this freshman can play good defense and keeper too!!!

Can you say "throwing your team under the bus"? Are you a parent? If so, that's a terrible example to be setting for your child. Do goals against Chester and Eau Claire really count?

soccer16, i thought you learnt your lesson the hard way a couple years ago. check out this link for some entertaining posts.

http://www.scsoccer.com/forum/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=60982&an=0&page=50#Post60982
(15 posts down from the top)

if that doesnt work here are a few of the posts:

Soccer 16: "I guess noone noticed the forward for NECSA U13 last fall. He finished 2nd or 3rd in league scoring on a mediocre team . Whereas the other top scorers were all on top teams with much better winning percentages. Keep a look out for him this season!"

Soccer 16: "His name is xxxx. He is big, fast, shoots with either foot and has good vision and feel for the game. He is playing '92 ODP this year and JV for AC Flora as a 7th grader. His assists would have been much higher in the fall if anyone else could put the ball in the back of the net. if anyone else could put the ball in the back of the net The team lost one player from the the addition of this kid compensates for any of those loses fall which should not affect them much. They did lose a couple of players from last years team but the addition of this kid compensates for any of those loses."

RZA: "Hey Gizza get a load this dad "pimpin" his son out.

Well peep this, You just blasted your sons team on a public FORUM! That's going to make for an interestin season big guy."

Is he on the team or in the pool for the 92's? Who coaches that age group?

And up from the 36 Chambers"

GZA: "APB is out on the little notty-headed forward from NECSA. CESA/CRSA is comin for u.

Kickman - your kid is next - left-foot lovin clown."

like they say, "old habits die hard"

He is from Columbia AC Flora. 2 assists vs Blythewood in the second game; Penalty kick after being taken down in the box vs Dreher; The other games were scoreless on our side. He has been man marked in every game this year including Chapin, BC, Dreher and Blythewood. I was curious as to how the stats match up in 3A this year? Still don't know the answer to that question but I would bet there is not another Freshmen in 3A with better stats. Yes, Ricky is a Freshman in 4A and also has a team.

You must be talking about the foward for Flora I believe is name is cameron sorry if i spelt it wrong but he is a quality player he makes plays to put his team in contention to win.

i had to mark on him the game we beat Flora 4-0 he is very active and he seems like more of an assist kind of guy than a goal guy. The second game i played up at forward i didnt really get to see him that much.

soccer16,

ive seen him play – yeah hes pretty good – but i dont see anything "eye-popping" about him. and im confused. you said he had 2 assists, a pk, and the other games were scoreless on our side. where did he get the 15 and 11 assists? were those own goals?

if the boy is really as impressive as you say he is, his dad wont have to do all the bragging on him. what youre doing is pretty sad. you fish for compliments, and when nobody gives you what youre looking for, you go ahead and jump in there and spit it out. whats worse is you, as "always right" put it, throw his team under the bus along the way. how do his teammates feel about playing with a superstar who carries the whole team on his back? i bet they feel extremely honored.

if hes 3a, then that means hes typically playing against other 3a players – not saying anything bad about 3a players – but you specifically mention ricky – well, ricky is playing against some of the best defenders in the state – is ac flora? i doubt it. and so what if hes man marked every game? so is austin savage but that doesnt really slow him down.

its nice that you think your boy is the best in the state – but dont get on here pretending to just be some spectator who happened to walk by and see him and thought he was the next ronaldinho. we all think our child is wonderful. but when you hear other people say good things without having to ask the question, then you know its real. if hes that good, we will hear about him. just stop the pimpin.

Jared Smith of Cheraw Braves has 20 goals and 11 assist. WOW. Cheraw has to make more noise for the players to be recognized.

Great job to both players!! Both players had 56 goals each last year. Also, Enzo had more assists last year.
