Individual teams in each region obviously have goals that the coach and/or players set at the onset of the season, but it would be interesting to look at the actual goals of the region as a whole. For instance, REGION I-AAAA's goals may look like this:

REGION I-AAAA
1.) Have 2 or 3 teams win their first round playoff matches
2.) Have 3 teams ranked in the top 15 at some point
3.) Have 1 team make it to the Upper State Championship
4.) Post an overall winning record against non-region 4A schools
5.) Post an overall winning record against all non-region opponents

This is entirely hypothetical, and no other REGION I-AAAA coaches were consulted when posting this.

I'm sure the level of ambition for each region is either tempered or fueled by the collective coaches' evaluation of how competitive their squads are in respect to other teams in the state.

For example, the REGION II-AAAA goals would be more ambitious of those of REGION I-AAAA based on the quality of teams in that region.
