COLUMBIA, SC - The Gamecocks (4-2-0) kicked off the "Spring" portion of their 2020-21 Covid-19 induced slate with a 4-2 victory vs. Winthrop on a dreary day (39 degrees, pouring rain) at Stone Stadium. The score was 1-1 at halftime. This marked the Eagles' first match of the 2020-21 campaign as the Rock Hill based University's entire Fall schedule was canceled. USC hosts USC Upstate on Wednesday and will travel to Greenville next Sunday for a match vs. Furman.

Scoring goals for the Gamecocks were junior Andrew Halloran (Riverside HS) from Greer with a second half hat-trick and sophomore Logan Hitzeman (Thornton, CO). Netting goals for Winthrop were Palmetto State natives Jonathan Foster (River Bluff HS) of Lexington and Grayson Woodard of Fort Mill.
