Upperstate versus Lowerstate in the smaller classifications (A boys and AA/A girls) is a bit ambiguous. This is because in the past few years, one of the "states" (usually the Upperstate) has a significantly larger number of temas. This has resulted in the seeding committee pulling one region or sometimes individual teams into the Lower state. If they did not, then you would need to win 2 games to win the Lowerstate but the Upperstate would need to win 4 games.

In the past few years, it has been thr rural schools near Rock Hill that have been pulled down to play higher seeded Charleston area teams. I also think that Edisto (Orangeburg area)has played as an Upperstate team b/c of the imbalance.
